if you ever happen to have medical imaging done (MRI/CT/Xray) and you want your images they will most likely hand you a CD/DVD that day. It can be very convenient and expedient for getting a second opinion. Take your disk home, upload to dropbox/etc and share with your provider. I highly recommend getting access to any images taken based on first hand experience getting second opinions for my family over the last 4-5 years.

Very few buy them, but if you already have them they tend to be good for watching shows that arent on streaming or cost additional money to stream.
I still use my old DVD burner for watching shows like Babylon 5, BSG or other old shows that arent on streaming platforms (consistently)

M Disc is also good for longterm archival.

The main reason to buy this is for people with only laptops and mini PCs (e.g. me) it's a way to rip discs.
