Without the adjustable frother found on the Magnifica Plus, the Evo frother is basically the Plus frother set to high foam...i.e. for Cappuccinos. There was another poster above who said they couldn't tell the difference between a Latte and Cappuccino with the Evo, and this is the reason. Every milk drink with the Evo will have HIGH foam, even a Latte.

When I make a Latte with the Plus, I set it to no foam, and it then basically dispenses hot milk..i.e. for a Latte. If I want a Flat White, I set the dial to the middle (creamy) which makes a lovely creamy crema top (my favorite of all the drinks). And finally for a Cappuccino, I set it to high foam which it then adds a ton of air to make milk foam...i.e. for a Cappuccino.

People...do yourself a favor and get the Plus version if you can swing the extra Benji and Grant!

Same experience with Evo, bought it new for somewhat $450-500 from DeLonghi direct. We use it a lot, though with the separate frother for capucchino.
I'd probably avoid buying refurb from Amazon/Woot - people complain about getting used or non-working machines, hard to return - read reviews.

You can add 2 years insurance through asurion within 30 days of purchase. For the evo is $27 and plus is $44.
Pay the extra $14 and get the 3 year for $58.

Magnifica Plus for $450 with a 3 year warranty for another $58....Seems like a win to me.

These are $1299 right now!
the magnifica plus was $1099 around the Thanksgiving/Xmas holiday season

I have one at home(thanks thriftstore!), tempted to get one for the office now. Frown

Advantages of the Plus over the Evo

-More drink options
-Milk frother has adjustable foam dial
-Some of the drinks grind coffee for up to 10 seconds, while the Evo's max is 7 seconds. So can you a larger/heavier puck with stronger espresso/coffee.

I bought the Magnifica Evo Next direct from Delonghi during a sale for $600. Pretty good machine, but like all coffee, it's all about the quality of bean and grind settings. Took me a while to figure out the best grind for the beans we use.

It's easy to use, but my only complaint is the milk frother is heavy on the froth and creates a heap of foam that can't be adjusted.

How is the refurbished condition from Woot. Any previous experience?
I purchased one a few weeks ago, the first one came with a box damaged and shatered water tank. Woot sent a replacement immediately. I received it 3 days ago, and it looks and works great. The only sign of use is a few coffee grains I found in the bag. It still has the factory plastic cover on the sensor panel.
Espresso shots are the same or better than I was able to make with my manual Breville. Milk drinks are ok (can't really tell the difference between latte and cappuccino), and the milk system is easy to clean.
Very happy with the purchase. Will definitely get the protection plan.

Everything I've got from woot refurbished is like new, just beware it almost never has manufacturers warranty, just a 90 day warranty from woot in most cases

The link takes to amazon and asurion there says it doesn't cover any not brand new items

Actually, in the Q&As section, it says: "As a special consideration of the Asurion Protection Plan, it is applicable to a renewed or refurbished item only if it is purchased from the Amazon.com platform and is offered the Amazon Renewed Guarantee." So it seems it does cover refurbs.
However, whether or not that applies to Woot purchases is not mentioned. Although it seems odd that Woot would always list these extended warranties, if the can't be purchased.

Has anyone received it yet and can report on the condition of the refurb? Ordered the plus model, should arrive tomorrow and I'll report back.
