Does anyone know if this thing natively allows an old ipad to duplicate what's on the screen?

I have an old ipad whose screen has gone out and I want to be able to access the contents. However, to my knowledge all devices like this require an input of some type (typically a confirmation of prompt allowing duplication) on the screen first.

This device will mirror the screen on the iPad or iPhone while connected to a TV or monitor via HDMI. It will also require a lightning connector plug in to the wall for most powered hungering devices. I was able to mirror resolution 720p though. Hope it helps.

My wife has used one of these for years for connecting her ipads to large screen tvs. There's no confirmation required on the ipad screen to complete the connection. However the connection simply allows you to display ipad video and audio on the tv or monitor...you still need to navigate to and select your ipad contents using the ipad screen. If your ipad screen is kaput, this won't work.

Since her current adapter is getting long in the tooth... and all of the cheap aftermarket adapters we've tried are crap...I've ordered one of these for $15 saving almost $35.

Order one. Any chance these are fake since it might be Amazon's inventory?

The core question is basically: does this dongle automatically mirror the screen without any screen presses (confirmation prompts, etc) instantly once connected?

If so, that would save me ! worship

I have bluetooth keyboards still connected and i can hear the confirmation sounds coming from the ipad when connecting to power. I think the screen is just finicky. I would be able to send all my files off of it if I could just get visual confirmation using a device such as this one.

Edit:
In other words: I am under the impression that a "Trust This Computer/Device" would appear initially.
According to AI: "The very first time you connect a new adapter (or after a long period of inactivity), your iPad may ask you to "Trust" the connected device and enter your passcode before the video signal is sent."

In the all the years we've been using this adapter to connect ipads to tvs, we've never seen the "Trust This Computer/Device" pop-up that does appear when you connect an ipad to a computer via USB cord.

I think the difference is that this is only projecting what is displayed on the ipad via HDMI to a TV or monitor...you can't control, navigate or make changes to the connected ipad from the tv. In contrast, when you connect an ipad (or iphone) to a computer via a USB connection, you have to acknowledge the "Trust This Computer/Device" pop-up because once it's connected, you can make changes to the connected device from the computer.
