I have this .... not hard to build but somewhat tedious ... lots of parts ... pretty straight forward and its hard to get something wrong but again -- loooottts of screws and nuts ...

would this be good for occasional DYI stuff or overkill. not sure how much these workbenches usually go for.

YES ... its literally perfect for that ... 3 small drawers on left and one large deep one on right ... good light ... nice size shelf on the top with a divider .... strong but not over-engineered ... i have had mine for about 5 years and i do allot of my DIY stuff - smaller projects - on that ...

its a good price for a good workbench .... it will last you forever

I went looking: Seville Classics - 48" are: $430 Amazon w/ Stainless Steel top, $389.84 for butcher block style wood bench Amazon$394 for granite gray AmazoneBay cheapest used is $262 red color, new is $330 w/wood top, $360 for granite gray.Considering the stainless steel top for working with engine parts and laying shop towels down.But will current deal post, it'll be a good "starter" bench but will need to see how it holds up (rust resistance) in the open door garage through southern climate exposed to outdoor elements.
