Merrell's Moab 3 Mid is coming through as a very comfortable hiking boot with true to size fit and no real break in period, making it a strong pick for long walks and trail use. The Vibram sole gets praise, and the boot has handled everything from a 12 mile hike to months on the Appalachian Trail. The main caveats are that this deal is for the non waterproof version, sizes and widths are limited, and the upper can scuff or tear when used off trail. A solid option if comfort matters more than rugged abuse resistance.

  • Hikers who want a true-to-size boot for regular use, because it fits true to size and stayed comfortable for years.

  • Day-hike hikers who want immediate comfort, because these can feel comfortable on a first 12-mile outing with no break-in or blisters.

  • Long-distance trail hikers who want a proven boot, because it held up through three months on the Appalachian Trail and stayed comfortable.

  • Buyers who value a grippy outsole, because the Vibram sole is very good.

  • Hikers needing long-term durability, because the toe-box seams can tear and the cushioning can stop feeling good within about 18 months.

  • People comparing value against waterproof versions, because the waterproof model can be available in more colors for less money.

  • Off-trail hikers who scrape through brush and rocks, because the upper material can tear up and look bad quickly.

  • Buyers who need waterproof protection, because this version is not waterproof.

Bought a pair 2yrs ago for the same price. Didn't even need a break-in period. Very comfortable - first hike in these was a 12mi and I felt no discomfort, chafing, or blisters.

Great super comfortable hiking boot that's true to size. Only small negative is that the material gets torn up and looks like crap as soon as you spend some time off trail.

I think I paid this amount for these boots back in 2010. Nice price now.

I also have a pair that is a few years old and can't say enough good things about them. They've held up very well and been comfortable since day one. I'll gladly grab a second pair at this price.

This is a great price for a great shoe, but these are not the waterproof variety, just so you know.

Same happened to mine, plus tears in the toebox seams. First one within about 3 mos, second a couple months later. These lasted me about 18mos before I needed to get rid of them. Never had any other boot do this prior, and haven't since.

They are comfortable but they only last around 6 months for me. Feet started hurting and realized the cushioning was not t good anymore.

$150 in my size but I could pick up the water proof version in 4-5 different colors for $120. 🤔
