Merrell's Moab 3 Mid is coming through as a very comfortable hiking boot with true to size fit and no real break in period, making it a strong pick for long walks and trail use. The Vibram sole gets praise, and the boot has handled everything from a 12 mile hike to months on the Appalachian Trail. The main caveats are that this deal is for the non waterproof version, sizes and widths are limited, and the upper can scuff or tear when used off trail. A solid option if comfort matters more than rugged abuse resistance.
Common Questions (4)
They hold up well for trail hiking and long use, including multi-month Appalachian Trail wear, but off-trail use can scuff or tear the upper material and some pairs have developed toebox seam tears. A few reports also mention cushioning wearing out after about 6 to 18 months.
No, this deal is for the non-waterproof version. If you want waterproofing, the waterproof Moab 3 Mid is a separate model and may be worth comparing on price.
They can be comfortable right away with no break-in period, and some have worn them on long hikes from the first outing without blisters or chafing. The fit is also described as true to size.
No, availability is limited: only a small number of sizes are discounted, and some wide widths are on sale while others are not. It's worth checking your exact size before assuming the deal applies.
