Ninja's 96 ounce frozen drink maker is drawing attention as a refurbished countertop machine for frappes, slushies, and iced coffee, with easy cleaning and multiple drink settings standing out. It can make frappes without diluting them with ice or water, and the larger Max version is praised for entertaining, stronger drinks, and easier cleanup. The main cautions are its bulky footprint, the need for sweetener to get drinks to slush properly, and the fact that the listing hides the refurbished condition in the description. It looks best suited to households that will actually use the capacity.

  • People making frappes and iced coffee at home, because it makes frozen drinks without diluting them with ice or water.

  • Hosts serving batches of frozen drinks, because the larger model has the capacity and cooling power for entertaining.

  • Home bartenders who want easy cleanup, because the machine is simple to take apart and clean.

  • Zero-sugar drink makers who are willing to use sweetener, because the machine needs sugar or allulose to slush properly.

  • People who want low-sugar frozen drinks, because unsweetened bases do not slush well and the machine may need very sweet mixes to work.

  • Small kitchens with limited counter space, because the larger model is huge and takes up a lot of room.

  • Buyers expecting a simple set-and-forget machine, because getting the mix right can be a pain and the slush assist can overfreeze drinks.

  • Shoppers who want a pristine new unit, because the listing is marked refurbished.

As someone who splurged and got the Max first instead, I would say only get it if you're doing a lot of entertaining and need the capacity. Granted, I'm not a big alcohol drinker and just like slushies, iced coffees, etc, so I'm not using it daily or anything. But the Max is HUGE and takes up a ton of space in your kitchen. We don't use our dining room much, so the Max literally just lives on our dining room table because it's so large. That being said, the thing is SUPER easy to clean and take apart. The "Slush Assist" feature is kind of gimmicky to me, as it tends to overfreeze the drink in my experience. I typically use it and then dial it back a couple notches from whatever it decides on.

This was my plan as well, but a sweetener of some sort is necessary for drinks to properly "slush". So just dumping in some sort of zero sugar beverage to make a slush doesn't work well. A liquid sweetener like Allulose works relatively well, but too much can change the taste of your zero sugar beverage base since it's also a sweetener.

I'm not sure I understand the Max comments, that version only supports 4% stronger ABV. Just add a little tequila topper to your margaritas and stick with the regular version. I don't need to spend twice as much on a machine twice as big to support 20% ABV over 16%. This thing is already going to be a PITA to store without doubling the size.

Obviously a different story if you've got large groups and are going through numerous batches since the capacity and cooling power will actually get used, but otherwise I don't get it.

I can't drink alcohol any more, but I wonder if you can make THC slushies
