Never forget how much Miyamoto hates that this book exists. He did not want a story in Galaxy and removed any trace of a story in Galaxy 2 lol.

That fact that the Galaxy remaster and the movie make such a big deal of this book is hilarious.

This isn't true. This storybook was approved and included in the original Wii version of Super Mario Galaxy. Miyamoto didn't want a story driven game, which is where your confusion may come from. He himself approved of the storybook being included into the game, but it was to be added in the library, as optional game content. Koizumi directly got Miyamoto's approval for the storybook.

Miyamoto didn't want this or any Mario game to be about story, simply gameplay. However, when the author, Koizumi, showed Miyamoto the storybook, Miyamoto agreed to include it but said it should be optional content. This book is in the original Galaxy game and was completely approved by him.
