I can't vouch for this specific model but generally yes, as long as it fits under the wire it can cut big cheese chunks.
But you might want to cut into smaller blocks for ease of slicing.

I've seen some with a wire that is a little stretched out, but they seem to last for years.

mindblown, I grew up with this as a staple in my cheese-obsessed house,
hope you will enjoy it as much as I have Wink

Some reviews mention it isn't even sealed wood. Might look into a granite option to resist bacteria build up

I've had this for 13 years. Never a problem. I didn't need to replace the wire until 3 years ago.

Apparently I can't attach a picture. It was $14.99 normal price back in 2013.

I have one of these, and they are a pain to clean. Getting all of the crushed cheese out of the crack in tedious. This is a great price though.

Yes. Prodyne sells the wires. It used to be that you could send them a broken or stretched wire with a self-addressed stamped envelope and they would send you a new one for free, but I think those days have come to an end.

I leave mine out overnight to let the cheese dry, then scrape the channel out with a toothpick.

I have gone through 3 of these and I can't live without it!
I buy bulk cheese at costco and save money and get better cheese.
The wire lasts for years if you don't jam it through hard chese.
I clean asap under water with brush and then soap.
Can a wood expert here tell us the safe way to preserve this wood?
