It's been a while since I posted any deal but I feel this one deserves some attention. I already have a Kindle Oasis as well as a recently acquired XTEink X4 in rotation (love the X4 btw for its portability) but was looking for a large e-reader for technical pdf. I looked at the Scribe and other usual suspect but came across this one through my research and the screen technology is intriguing, it's pretty much promising color e-ink feel with a regular LCD performance so I bit the bullet and bought the bundle and so far I'm quite impressed, it functions as any regular Android tablet but the screen is something else. It's unlike any other screen that I've seen. It's matte, has no reflection, and truly is very gentle on the eyes. It has 3 modes: regular mode (like any other LCD screen), Color Paper (think Kindle ColorSoft like), and Ink Paper Mode (think e-ink like). I found myself leaving it on Color Paper mode most of the time since I mainly use this one for reading. Pairing this with a capable reader app like Moon + Reader/KOReader/ReadEra and it's really a different reading experience. I highly recommend it, especially at this price. Only downside I found so far is TCL doesn't allow the ability to switch user profile from the lock screen (how dumb), you have to go into Settings to do it. But I put up with it because of how much I like this screen.

Haven't used the stylus yet so no comment on that. The case is ok, not bad but it's built for horizontal stand. Get a proper tablet stand if you want to read in portrait mode.

I have this, with the case and stylus, and like it; I don't believe that this is the best price though. Sure, the processor isn't the fastest, it could use more memory, and I wish it had an sd card slot, but for the price it's fast enough and being able to write with the stylus is great. I also often use it as an external monitor when on my laptop. I haven't received any SW/firmware updates on it since I bought it, so not sure about long-term support. Regarding the "bloat" that others are talking about... some of the apps are specific to this tablet - so you can use the stylus, change screen modes, etc. Other brands are way worse IMO.
I have the TCL NXTPAPER 14, which I assume is similar to this 11 inch tablet with just a larger screen. Price was $300 during last year's Black Friday sale. This isn't a high-end tablet, but performance is better than the Amazon Fire tablets and the cheapest Samsung and Lenovo tablets. I agree that software updates are poor and that is my main complaint with this brand. Android 17 is reportedly already in beta test for release this summer. My tablet TCL came with Android 14 and last month I got an update to Android 15 (2 years out of date). I don't know if I will ever get any further system updates after Android 15. I do get occasional Google Play system updates, but I never get the monthly Android system security patches that I get on my Android phone. Major Android phone brands like Pixel and Samsung are promising 5 to 7 years of system and security updates for their devices, though of course those cost more than this tablet.
The stylus seems to be a generic USI 2.0 stylus, so if the one that came with your tablet dies, 3rd party USI 2.0 styluses are available for $20 to $40.

Be aware that TCL refuses to sell replacement stylus tips for their tablets. The only way to get more stylus tips is to buy a brand new stylus.
Thanks for the... tip. Forty bucks a pop. So, they give you a big coupon up front and tax you for years with landfill fodder for years. Good name for the product. NEXT!!

Is there any difference between the supposedly "e-ink like" matte screen on this and just buying a matte screen protector for an existing tablet?

Not really much of a deal. I got this last month from Amazon for $255. It's been hovering around that price for quite awhile. If you don't need the case and pen, Walmart is the way to go.Otherwise this tablet is fine. The matte screen is nicer, but it's not as amazing as I thought it'd be. People always compare it to e-ink, but there's really no comparison. It's basically just a LCD screen with a matte screen. You still get a bit of glare from bright lights, but not the blinding reflection from glossy screens, whereas e-ink has 0 problems in bright light. This tablet also supports extend mode which is basically using this as a secondary monitor through Miracast. It works... but unfortunately there's no way to set the resolution to the tablet's resolution, or to change the scaling on the tablet so it doesn't look like crap.Otherwise I got this mainly for webtoons. It works fine for that, but I'm still wishing they'd sell a 8" version without having to go through Verizon or buying used.
Why not just get the 8" one from straight talk. And it seems tcl tablets have been arriving unlocked from straight talk

For $105 before tax, you get a moto g power 2025 phone + 1 month silver phone plan + tcl 8 nxtpaper + 1 month tab unlimited plus plan

You need both of these plans to qualify for tablet discount, the phone comes free with the mobile plan...

While I am a huge fan of the the nxtpaper display and versetility it brings as a good color eink tablet replacement for people who want to read on tablet form factor and android app support, $260 is a lot to pay for this even at the size being 11 inches. I think options like 8 inch nxtpaper tablet from total for just $85 (also LTE unlocked, link below) is much more value for money given 8 inch is a good enough size for reading:

However that's just my opinion, other can disagree and I respect that.

Biggest problem with this is the bloat. I have the 10 inch version. The display is great for its intended use. But man, so many useless apps get installed. You can uninstall many of them. But some of them comes back everytime you restart. Even if you disable them, some of them will come back as soon as you restart. And if there is an update? Get ready for many new bloats. The user experience is so bad.

Sad to hear. I bought a couple Lenovo Idea Tabs around black Friday. After a few days wrestling with the auto installation of crapware I gave up and sent them back. Was hoping the TCL would be a different story.
My experience is the opposite. I got two NXTPAPER 10 for free with 90 day SIM from Straight Talk last year, instantly unlocked. They are a great tablet, no spam to speak of, unreal battery life. Someone said they hadn't seen a tab that thick, its much easier to hold. The biggest problem was getting a case. Mine came from China AliExpress, they work fine.

I heard someone complain about the bloatware on the Moto 5G Stylus phones coupled in that deal too, not my experience at all. You have to be careful when you start these things up, there tends to be an initial app that if you say yes, downloads all the trash. If you factory reset, don't run that thing, then disable it, you're pretty much home free, pick off the occasional "glance" or other app as they show up. Mine are quiet with any spam and great overall. The matte screen is awesome and the processor is fine. They come with a fair amount of ram, a lot of tabs forever seemed to cheap out on RAM when the phones were getting plenty.

For reference, deal was quite a bit less with CB and Chase 15%:

Edit - it still says $59 for the NXTPAPER10 with a 3 month plan:
" TCL Tab 10 NXTPaper 5G $59.99 With the purchase of a Tablet Unlimited+ 3-Month Plan and a Silver Unlimited Phone Plan or higher With the purchase of a Tablet Unlimited+ 3-Month Plan and a Silver Unlimited Phone Plan or higher"
Offer valid through 05/28/2026 while supplies last. Taxes and fees apply. Promotion requires new activation on a Tablet Unlimited+ Plan and a new or existing activation on single line Silver Unlimited Phone Plan or higher. Available online only. Limited to one device per account.

seems a damn site better than a $260 11 inch, stylus or not. The data is very fast, 5gUW
