256GB is barely enough for the OS plus an OS update, nobody should buy this from Apple, let them eat the cost for putting out computers with minuscule storage.

While I agree that 256GB is pretty small, let's stop with the exaggerations. The macOS takes up no more than 30GB (I think it takes 23GB) and the largest OS upgrade is probably 35GB. That's basically a 1/4 of the drive space. Not "barely enough".

This 15.3 inch MacBook Air stands out as a lightweight everyday laptop with a big screen, strong keyboard, and solid build quality. The M4 chip and 16GB of memory make it appealing for web browsing, email, iMessage, FaceTime, and web apps, and the Costco price has been seen as low as $799.97 in store. The main drawback is the 256GB SSD, which fills up quickly for heavier storage needs. For buyers who want more room or plan to game, the nearby M5 and 512GB options keep coming up as the better fit.

  • The 256GB SSD can be sufficient for typical web browsing and communication apps after macOS updates.

    aLazyLemming

  • The 15-inch screen size and keyboard are described as strong for everyday typing and work-in-web-apps use.

    aLazyLemming

  • The build quality is described as strong for a MacBook Air in this price range.

    aLazyLemming

  • The deal value may improve if the price drops to $799.97 instead of $899.95.

    bennaimd

  • The 256GB configuration can fill up faster than expected for some users' storage needs.

    ComoEstanPinches

  • The 256GB SSD can be limiting for modern storage expectations at around the $900 price point.

    Denigrate

  • The 256GB SSD can be considered too small for OS updates by some shoppers evaluating the configuration.

    CharlesBarkley

  • The in-store-only availability can limit purchase options compared with online or other store channels.

It's a decent deal, but it would be better to go for the m5 chip and more default storage for a little more if you plan on doing any kind of gaming.

This is such a triggered and irrational take. I'm typing this on one I picked up from Costco 3 hours ago. I've fully updated the OS, and installed all the apps that I usually use, as well as let my iMessages download. Mac OS (with the latest update) is taking up 25.8gb and all together I have only used 64gb.
The target consumer for this laptop doesn't really need more than 256 tbh, and if they do that's why there's options for higher storage configurations. If you need to web browse, type stuff, email, iMessage, FaceTime, work in web apps, etc this is an incredible laptop to do so, and you don't need extra storage for that. Screen is a great size, keyboard is great, build quality is great.

I'm not arguing that a $900 shouldn't come with more storage. I'm just pointing out how absolutely useless, unhelpful, and frankly irrelevant this comment is. I don't understand how you can have such hard feelings for a company. That kind of parasocial relationship is not healthy.
