I have decent high quality knifes $100+ price range. I personally prefer true German or Japan period.
Till I recently got few Chinese, even it's fake Damascus steel chief and fillet knifes for like $15 total.

Its not even really "free stuff". You pay income taxes on the value of the products, and often times when you get it as a "viner" the retail price is grossly inflated so you end up paying about the same and sometimes EVEN MORE in taxes than someone who actually buys it some months later when its been "discounted". Case in point, the "retail price" of this set is $50. If I got it on vine, I'd pay about about $17 in taxes in federal and state income taxes because I would have to file $50 worth of income.
Vine does have a lot of problems and folks who game the system, so you're right to take those reviews with a grain of salt, but a great deal of vine reviews are going to be completely honest opinions of people who had skin in the game.

...you're being taxed on the payment. The free item is the payment. That's how income tax works. Everyone pays income tax. I paid it on my earned income that I'd then have to spend to actually buy the product.
Imagine a $70 item.
I had to earn $100, be taxed 30% on my income, then pay the $70 to get it. Whereas you pay $21 in tax ($70*30%).
Getting the item "free" (or for 1/5 what others pay) of course skews your concept of the product. The FTC knows this which is why legally it has to be disclosed.
I'm glad you endeavor to be as honest as possible when you do reviews. As you pointed out many are likely not so objective. when almost all the reviews are Vine, I take it with extra skepticism

Yes its still less than $100 of "earned income" but hey, you controlled this narrative. And you glossed over the fact that we're on slickdeals right now, and if you're anything like me, you're probably not buying the $70 item when its $70, you're buying it when there's a coupon and its like $50. If I go through my amazon history, I would have to scroll a long way before I get to a purchase that wasn't a slickdeal.
And this is before we get into the fact that when you're buying an item, viners are always rolling the dice. We don't get to be choosey and have reviews to read ahead of time, and we can't make returns (although we can ask for warranty support). All I'm saying is, vine isn't the "bribed" review like you're making it out to seem. A lot of vine users actually drop the program because they come in expecting to get free samsung tvs and roombas or whatever, but the reality is far less glamorous. I can go on all the ways that make the program really not that great but I feel I've already gone on too much about it (maybe why I got selected for vine in the first place).
Its not all bad of course. If you go into it understanding how it all works and learn to avoid getting burned by BS, you CAN get some really nice things at a substantial discount.
One thing to add though, health and beauty products do not incur taxes. So if you're looking at vine reviews for something like makeup, cologne, or some medical device, DEFINITELY scrutinize it. Lots of viners only troll the health and beauty items because they know they can scoop it all up for free.99. And you can tell by their reviews they have no idea how competitive the price actually is. Reviewing generic cold medicine for 2x the price of name brand and giving it 5 stars, stuff like that.
Oh and baby products. For some unknown [to me] reason, almost all baby products fall under that health and beauty tax exemption. So even $300 baby strollers and bouncers do not incur tax. Definitely do not trust vine reviews from those.
