If you already have a Roku account, you may be able to get one directly from Roku for $10

This Roku works perfect! I have wired Roku Ultras and really like the platform so I bought this for a 32" 1080P TV. I paid the normal price and I saw the 4K version for only another $10, but this TV wasn't 4K and I did not want to waste the bandwidth of streaming a 4K signal then having the 4K Roku stick just downgrading the signal back to 1080P, I have cellular home internet. I plugged this in and it recognized the brand of TV which surprised me because this TV is over 15 years old. The remote automatically set up correctly controlling my TV power, volume up and down plus mute. I don't think the remote is RF but it works pointing any direction. It is really fast and for $15 it is a nice option for 1080P TV's and Projectors.

If the remote works pointed in any direction it's using both BT for the Roku device and RF for your 15 year old TV.
For future reference, you can manually downgrade the setting on a 4K streaming device, so that it doesn't need to convert the signal unnecessarily (which limits the bandwidth).

FYI....Both of them seem to be the same, non-4K version.

I prefer Roku to Apple TV. I have found it more versatile.

So it's cheaper to get from Roku and not Walmart?

It was. $10 at Roku up until yesterday 4/8/2026 to get a Stupid Stick (as we call ours) the Ultra works much better (at least our experience with 2 Stupid Sticks, and 3 other varying Roku devices. That said, only the Roku Stick allows for faster YT videos watching (wife hates when I) on 2x speed.

It might be worth mentioning that this is cheaper ($15) than just buying the voice remote directly from Roku ($20), so if all you need is the remote, it's not a bad idea if you can't wait for a sale on the remote.

I've never had a Roku before, but need to get one for someone who lives where internet is kinda slow, and they have an older TV, need a HDMI port versus usb... do you think its better I get the one with the cord, or something like this but with HDMI port? Hope this makes sense.

AND check your email registered with your Roku account to see if there's a $5 offer to connect your account to CashApp Pay! I got an offer a couple months ago for Paypal and didn't use it. Got another this month for cashapp pay, linked it and the credit appeared within a week. When checking out, I was able to use a different payment method and still got the $5 Roku credit!

this uses an HDMI to output video/audio to the TV. iThe stick needs needs usb for power, which can be from the TV or from a power supply (like the ones a phone uses to charge)

Since Roku added ads to paused shows, I have ditched Roku.
