Features:
  • Unsurpassed range & sensitivity - Industry-leading performance with advanced false alert filtering is the choice for drivers who demand the highest level of protection against speeding tickets.
  • GPS technology - Using GPS, the R3 can remember and mute common false alerts (such as retail store automatic doors) along your regularly driven routes, so you never have to listen to the same false alert twice.
  • Red light and speed camera alerts - Preloaded red light and speed camera locations with free database and firmware updates ensure your detector will never be out of date.
  • Multi-color OLED display - Easy to read and allows for more useful information to be displayed at once. This improves your overall situational awareness.

Avoiding single ticket pretty much pays this off.

It's 2026. Law enforcement uses laser now, making this a useless paperweight.
You don't know how radar detectors work.

Where do you mount this if you already have a dashcam behind the rearview mirror?

Somewhere you can quickly grab and hide it when you are being pulled over.

If you limit your speed to 5 over, you can save yourself the cost of this detector and cost of ticket. Maybe I'm just lucky but my last ticket was 26 years ago and I drive 35,000 miles per year.
so why carry car insurance? i usually drive about 8 over but still keep the r4 for protection against overzealous law enforcement. sometimes i miss a speed limit change and suddenly realize i'm going way over the limit.

I bought an attachment that clips to my passenger side visor.

Just picked this up over my beltronics rx65...like slim detectors and dont care for added features...should be real nice upgrade and even with my crappy detector ka i would slow down anyways! i was looking for under $200 and only option was the cobra r480 which wasnt as good.. released in 2017 and still supported can't beat it for extra $100!
RX65 is crazy old and falses so much. Not sure how you are still using that junk without going mad.
Modern Unidens are much quieter. It will be an amazing upgrade in quality of life and performance.
Also, even after 9 years they are still updating the R3 firmware.

I know I see state troopers with laser guns, sighting individual cars. They sure ain't holding a K band radar gun. And your laser detector might as well say "Your speed has been captured".

I'm still kickin myself for returning one of the R4's I picked up when Sams cleared them out for $150.00. I should have kept both of themFrownFrown Might grab this R3 so I don't have to move the R4 between my two vehicles.

We are way passed that. They use an advanced AI system that detects your speed based on your phone's GPS movement.

Back in college, our professor invited a police officer to speak to us, and he candidly said we were safe at 10 mph over the limit because they didn't deem it worth the paperwork lol I've been driving at 10 mph over my entire life and never got a ticket.
