I really like this device for recording in the woods; the quality feels great; the physical sliders also feel so good to use compared to touch screen stuff. It's also really useful to bring to an open mic with the two correct cables; you can typically ask to plug in and capture off the output lines of the mixer the sound team is running if you're kind when you ask and don't come off as entitled and realize they are providing the local music scene with a very helpful service.
Go play and record!

I basically want to be able to record something like this: https://youtu.be/BkBhGD4FV-g?si=xOk8B1PbBF
We got one from woot for $120 or so and my kid uses it all the time. The obvious use is recording and layering tracks using line in, but he also uses it as an audio interface to his computer to record guitar directly. The built in mic is okay. It has USB so you aren't dependent on batteries if at home, and it uses AA and lasts a nice long while with eneloop rechargeables. Built in effects are okay, but I assume everyone has their own pedals for effects. Built in drum tracks are serviceable and not too riddled with flourish, but they don't adapt tempo to playing or anything so you just layer in whatever makes sense.
Negatives: The body is plastic and a little cheap and the menu navigation takes a bit to get used to. The connectors are on all sides so if you're plugged into usb-c and a 1/4 jack on the bottom, and an 1/8 monitor jack on the side the thing looks like a squid. Oh and it only records 2 tracks at a time despite being a four track. You can't even do two inputs and the mic at the same time.
It's good but if you can wait, wait for a better price.
