Obligatory PSA: These have a bitter coating on them to prevent children and pets from swallowing them, which can be very dangerous. The coating can be removed by lightly sanding it off, but wiping it off with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol will suffice. The coating can act like an insulating layer and affect conductivity in certain devices.

These and also similar Duracell 6-packs of CR2032's are regular price around $7 at Menard's locally, minus 11% in-store rebate makes it just over $6. And, you can inspect the date when you buy them and aren't gonna get counterfeits.

The child proof packaging is no joke too. I'm not sure if it was Duracell or Energizer I bought recently, but the thick plastic packaging basically goes all the way up to the battery and you're not liberating them without some good sharp scissors and some effort. No popping these through the packaging like you used to be able to. They make childproof pill bottles look like a joke.

First time I was like what in the hell. You have to cut damn near right up to the battery to ge them out of the plastic

They may have made it safer for children, but now adults are 5 times more likely to injure themselves just trying to open the packaging.

My daughter opened her first 'childproof' pill bottle at the age of two. Sheer luck of course because she couldn't hold it with one hand and turn with the other so she had to put it on the ground and put her weight on it to turn which of course is how you defeat those caps. If they were as hard to open as these battery packs, people would die laugh out loud

I slide a pocket knife blade into the hole they all have in the front, easiest way to open it. Then I snack on them because the coating is delicious.

Pretty sure almost all of the cases of kids eating these, they didn't get a new battery out of the package, but rather it came out of a toy or device they were fiddling with. Gov't offering "the cure" for a disease no one had in the first place.

The downvote is the one kid who ate glue and batteries.
