Was 5 something around Blk Friday. With the state of pc gaming being worse since then, this deal is not terrible.
Gaming laptop is a good rig nice build quality. Handled Blk myth Wukong with ease.

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie .. I know the reaction nowadays to what I'm going to say next will be "Yeah so what? How can we afford it with AI gobbling up all the RAM and driving up m2 drive prices?" Stick Out Tongue ... but if you can (somehow ) find a good deal on an m2 drive, I'm pretty sure this laptop does have a slot for a second m2 drive to add storage space.

Man either PC Gaming is in a terrible spot or this is a mid deal. I remember in 2024 when 4050 laptops were this price, the fact that they are still this price in 2026 is wild...

The OpenAI deal back in Oct 2025 with Samsung and HK Hynix intended to buy 40% of global memory supply. This caused other companies like Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and other hyperscalers to go make deals to secure their order before the supply dries up. Then in late March 2026, OpenAI announced they were dropping AI products (Sora) because it requires too much compute, has a lot of competition and doesn't make much revenue. With all these AI datacenters, they realized they weren't able to monetize it as profitable as they thought they could. Memory and chip prices should be correcting itself now, but lots of retailers are still selling the hype.
This seems like a decent entry gaming laptop for my kid as this can support DLSS 4.5, but I might wait for the 5050 variant for the 90W TDP vs the 135W TDP of the 4050 at this price point. 5050 should improve battery life and run cooler. Also just about +20% better at everything, and 2 GB more VRAM.
