It's pretty much Xbox live gold to play multiplayer, you also get access to a small list of gamepass games

I'm assuming this converts to less months if you're on a higher tier?

FYI - If you plan to use this for Ultimate, it is actually better to let your subscription lapse, stack 3 years, and then convert to Ultimate. You get 146 days per year converting to Ultimate versus 91 days per year extending an existing Ultimate.

How long do you have to let it lapse?

You can do it right away after, but you have to not have a subscription otherwise it will automatically convert. If you try to "downgrade" your subscription, it will usually do it at the end of your current subscription so that won't work either.

So 146 each year makes 438 for 3 years for ultimate.
That's like 40% of what you will get with essential.
So that makes ultimate for $13.3/month. Is that considered a great deal for ultimate ?

Since you can only stack 3 years of Essential so it comes out to about 14.5 months of Ultimate for $192. Since Ultimate is $30/month regularly, getting it for $13.10/month is a pretty good deal.

It's a good deal, but I think you can only stack 3 years of Essential, so at most you're getting 14 months at this price.

Eh i havent been feeling the urge for gamepass since that last price hike but the lapsing trick mentioned above makes it a bit enticing
