Community Reviews
This DEWALT Powerstack 5Ah starter kit stands out as a strong value for anyone wanting a premium 20V battery with a charger. The 5Ah Powerstack is praised for delivering solid power, especially on vacuum and lawn tools, and the kit price is viewed as favorable versus typical per amp hour pricing. The battery is still fairly large and heavier than expected, and the compact Powerstack label is not as dramatic at this capacity. Stock and fulfillment have been inconsistent, so checking availability, production date, and the included charger model matters.
Common Questions (5)
The 5Ah Powerstack is still a large battery, even though Powerstack uses a more compact pouch-cell design than traditional round-cell packs. It is reported to be heavier than a standard 5Ah battery at about 1.75 lb versus 1.5 lb, and much larger than the 1.7Ah Powerstack.
Yes. The battery alone is often valued around $50-$75 for a premium pack, and the included charger adds roughly $20-$30 more. A prior clearance price around $50 for the battery-only kit is the main lower benchmark mentioned.
Yes. Recent deals have included Powerstacks made in 2024, and some kits have arrived with batteries dated 2022 or 2023, so checking the date code helps you know how old the stock is before keeping it.
It works with regular DEWALT 20V tools, but it may not work with off-brand tools that need a battery adapter. It can work with many adapter setups, but compatibility depends on the tool and adapter combination.
It can sustain power better in high-drain tools like vacuums and lawn equipment, with less slow end-of-battery drain. For some users it feels similar to a 1.7Ah Powerstack in everyday use, but the 5Ah pack is preferred for heavier loads.

Here's a picture to show, the 5ah is second, the 5ah power stack is the third battery. Dewalt lists the standard at 1.5lbs and the 5ah powerstack at 1.75lbs. The small battery in the picture is the 1.7ah. This one never made sense to me (more power but more size), a 3ah powerstack would have been better for weight and size.

Now if I can get a handful of the 1.7 AH stackies for 30 bucks apiece I would snap up at least two in an instant.
