Always on board for aquarium deals. Im more of a fluval guy (AC50, 207, and FX4) but these are nice HOB filters.

If you toss some better media in the back of these, they work pretty well. Not as good as some canister options but still well.

Back when I had a reef tank I had one of these. Instead of the filter media I put chaeto algae in it and added a low powered LED light strip on the bottom of the lid. I would just remove the algae as it grew. It filtered out particles (not as well as the regular media of course), but it absorbed unwanted nutrients as it grew. I was pretty proud of this idea, but I'm sure I'm not the first person to do it. Its been over 15 years since I had the tank so I don't remember specific aquarium lingo.

Marineland is great, i remember asking them why the impeller was making loud noises. They mailed me a new impeller. Their filter media was getting too expensive had to change to aqueon.

Awesome filters. I had an old school Biowheel on an Oceanic "tall" salt tank in the mid 90s. Ran like a champ for years.

Really good filter - you'll see increased evaporation a bit, due to their wheel technology - but you'll also have a really healthy beneficial bacteria colony on there!
