Wiim has replied in their forums that they don't consider the Aliexpress store to be a valid seller and will not honor warranty claims for units purchased there, for however much that matters to you.

I picked up the Ultra streamer and Vibelink amp in the last sale. Really enjoying them, they work great with no issues and Wiim is constantly adding new features and capabilities to the firmware and mobile app.

Okay price, though was just $240 at AliExpress. But dang, all this needed to be the perfect, all-in-one unit was AirPlay support!
Oh, and losing the Precise Location requirement in iOS to setup would be good too.

I use a laptop with external dacs and am quite happy with the results and interface. That being said how would this be better?

The AliExpress deal was a scammer. I rolled the dice and ended up with a chargeback headache. 280 is pretty much as low as this goes from a legitimate seller.

I was wondering the same thing. Why no Airplay in a more expensive unit? I have the Wiim Amp and the Airplay function is working so nicely.

They really dropped the ball on Airplay support on this. Hopefully if there is an Ultra 2 in the works they include it if they are able to.

This is the best pre/streamer available for anything like reasonable imo. I have newer 3k pre, 1k older pre, old Marantz , Pioneer and Sansui all I love. The Wiim Ultra out does them all. If you think it's not, you probably don't own one.
