The last time this monitor was posted, someone mentioned that the OLED screening message would pop up almost hourly. That sounds very annoying.

It's not hourly. It's about 4hrs or so. It can be disabled in the UI but I'm not sure if that's going to be harmful over the long run due to oled burn in tendencies.
The Acer warranty description does not seem to cover burn in but an updated statement I saw somewhere on their website says they do..
I ended up returning the display because of the annoying blue LED that kept flashing in standby mode without a way to disable it.
Picture is still nice though and has 280hz.

Hmm, does that mean that if you disable the notifications then you cannot get the monitor to do its cleaning cycle? Or is that something it just does whenever it feels like (regardless of if there is activity on the screen)? I wouldn't want it to do that if I'm playing a game or in the middle of a meeting, for instance.

If you turn the monitor fully off, does the blue LED go away?

For most of these OLED monitors, they'll automatically run their pixel refresh cycle once they go into standby after at least 4 hours of use, so it should still do its refresh cycle. I disabled the notification on my Alienware ultra-wide QD-OLED after it caused me to die during a Lies of P boss fight that I was about to win. It's a good idea to set the screen standby time to 5 minutes or so to prevent burn-in on QD-OLED's. I don't know the UI and mechanics of this specific monitor, though, so I'd double check.

You hold the joystick-like button to turn the monitor off fully. The blue light would therefore also turn off. Kind of cumbersome..

I realize this is def a first world problem but I just couldn't stand it flashing all night in the bedroom. Other monitors these days have a user interface that allows you to disable the LED (such as the Lenovo Legion IPS monitor I had previously and the MSI MAG OLED I replaced the Predator with).

As far as the refresh cycle, I think the monitor still does it when it gets a chance to when you're not using it. The notification is a distraction though when you are using the monitor continuously for 4hrs or greater. I skipped the message once and noticed it did come back a different day. I no longer have the monitor though.

I'm concerned about this blue light thing.. does this mean that if i put the pc to sleep like normal, and don't touch the monitor, that there will be a blue light shining at night?

hope someone can clear this up for me
