Yes, this projector is insanely dim at 230 lumens. My first projector from 20 years ago was rated for 600 lumens.
However, that projector was 13 pounds and only supported 1024x768 resolution projected from 8-16 feet onto a 60"-100" screen size. The most notable feature was zoom in addition to the manual focus, which gave some flexibility as to the projector placement.

In contrast, the Freestyle 2nd gen is:

Under 2 pounds
Powers off USB-C (with peak draw of 50W)
Has a native 1080p resolution
Auto-focus
Auto-keystone
Potentially completely self-contained with Tizen apps for streaming/gaming
The maximum projection size that's going to be usable for most people with the Freestyle 2nd gen is probably 60-65" in a pitch-black setting... but if you're using this projector for anything typical you've perhaps missed the point. This is for a sleepover, ceiling, camping trip, or some other fun.
In fact, I'd suggest we're nearing the right price for this device... any lower and I'd already own one.

Good luck!
Jon

It costs more though I got the XGIMI Mogo 4 Laser on sale recently. This Samsung is a pretty good deal though it is dim and needs a mostly dark room. Rtings.com has expanded recently with projector reviews if interested in seeing a professional review on the Freestyle. I already have an XGIMI Horizon 20 though wanted the flexibility of a portable one. If you don't think you would benefit from a portable unit then look at other options.

You just need to find the best use case for a product. This works perfectly for me, cause I use it to play cartoons for my kid after sunset, so being not bright is a great way to not give too much screen time during the day. Having the normal streaming apps built in is another plus. I do hope it could have Android TV system so I have more flexibility on apps.

Not very bright for $290 either. Feel bad for anyone paying full retail for this thing.

Think this would work for an after sunset outdoor pool party setting?
