The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 stands out as a fast 32 inch 4K Mini LED monitor built for PC gaming, with 240Hz, VRR, low input lag, sharp motion, and strong HDR color and brightness. It also works well for everyday desktop use, and the non OLED panel avoids burn in worries. The main tradeoffs are VRR flicker in dark scenes at unstable frame rates, some inverse ghosting at lower refresh rates, and occasional scanlines or haziness that can distract in productivity work. The screen is heavy and the curve takes getting used to, making it a strong all around pick if gaming is the priority.
Common Questions (5)
No OLED-style burn-in concern applies here because it is not an OLED panel. It is also described as a solid desktop monitor, though scanlines can appear at times and may be distracting for productivity work.
Yes. It has a 240Hz refresh rate, VRR support, low input lag, and sharp motion, with accurate colors, high peak brightness, and decent Mini LED local dimming. It can still show VRR flicker in dark scenes when frame rates fluctuate, and some inverse ghosting can appear at lower refresh rates.
The Neo G8 and Neo G7 are very similar and likely use the same panel, with the main differences being 240Hz on the G8 versus 165Hz on the G7. The G8 also has better reflection handling, while the G7 may be preferable if the G8's added haziness bothers you.
Yes. It can be run at 1440p with 240Hz, which makes it usable when a GPU cannot push 4K at high refresh rates. The curved screen may take some getting used to.
Yes. The monitor is described as heavy enough that a monitor arm is recommended for setup and support.

I have a 32' 4k Samsung monitor the uj59 one and that monitor is very dull. It's the basic one on Amazon and best buy and the old popular one from a while back. It isn't height adjustable or anything like that. The other thing is because it's 32' 4k monitor and a flat monitor, I use a 6 foot folding table, even putting it as far back as I can on the table, it's hard to look at the corners of the monitor because of how big the monitor is.
I know Samsung has a 32' odyssey 4k curved monitor as well. Would any of the 32' 4k curved, 37' 4k curved or this 40' 5k curved be superior to the Samsung uj59 monitor I have? Now would you say there is a big difference between the this 40' one and the 37' one? I always felt that the 37' size is a bit awkward? To me, monitor sizes for 4k monitors should be 32' or 40'. 37' seems to be a bit strange? Is there a big difference between 37' and 40'? The 40' costs a good bit more. Do most agree a curved monitor is just better in general? It seems like it would be because looking at the corners and edges would be easier?
How does one get an edu/epp email?
Thanks.
