While it may be nice to own and listen to an audible book any time you want to, it is not like owning the book and putting it on your shelf.
When it comes to audio books, I just get the Libby app and attach to my local library card and listen to audio books for free.
Yes, if the title is popular, you may have to reserve it and listen later, but classics like Lovecraft and others listed here usually have many copies, and some even have infinite copies.
There are few if any audio books that I have listened to more than once, however I have often read the paper and then listened later in the car or commute etc. if I really like the book.

Go for the Libby App first! Free is Slicker than $5.99 if you are willing to wait.

Not to mention if you're willing to put in a lil effort you can look for other major libraries that you can get a library card to, because Libby allows you to add multiple library cards

Is there a resource that I can use to see what I might be able to get access to?

I think all libraries have an online catalog and you can request things that might not have been available before once you get a card (if you dont have one). For example: I've requested audiobooks for something that was only available in print and saw it added a while later.

No, I was asking about seeing which other libraries (outside of my county) I night he able to get a library card for.

BTW, a book in listening to right now is There is no Antinemetics Division. Sci/Fi and Horror.

It's really good!

Oh! I see, it is my personal experience that most librarians wont refuse you getting a library card if you are there in person. They are like a club bouncer that wants you to come into the club. I think having a few in major metropolitan area cards will give you access to a sizable portion of the book universe. Plus the magazines and comic book access is a nice perk also. I recently found out that they even 3d print things for you (branch dependent ofcourse)

My small town library doesn't have access to Libby. I depend on audible.
