I've had this knife for 7+ years and it's become my go-to kitchen knife. It has a crazy comfortable handle and is easy to keep sharp. While you could use it for outdoors/hunting, I think the Finn Hawk is more appropriate for that (though its sheath is crazy tight). I also have the Finn Hawk, but I don't get outdoors much these days so I think it's in my tackle box somewhere. I will say that this knife is one of the few knives I've ever bought that I literally use almost everyday (in the kitchen). If you don't have a hyper-specific use-case that requires exact specifications in a knife, the Finn Bear is a good generalist that performs adequately in most situations. I would classify it as a blue-collar working knife. Not an elite or tactical performer with the $$$ price tag, but it will get most jobs done. It's like Kirkland liquor.

It's for hunting bears, which you have obviously never done... Properly at least

Length is good for skinning and dressing large game, plastic handle can also be a good thing, but depends if it's cheap slippery plastic or something with a rubbery texture to it, but a guard would be smart for sure.
