I hear Costco model does not have the auto air feature (opens door automatically after wash to further aid in drying), which to me is the whole point of getting a 500. I have a 500 with auto air.

Costco sells the 500 series with auto air but it's more than double the price at $1169.

This Costco Bosch 500 is missing auto-air but it has a couple additional features that the $1100 version of the 500 with the auto open door doesn't have.

A good deal if this is what you want. I never personally understood the appeal of a dishwasher without the macerator. (A trend Bosch started)

I don't think it's a big deal unless you are running it a lot. It's a convenience thing. You can open the door yourself when a wash has completed. I only do two washes a week so I don't mind manually opening it. Also you get additional features with this version that are not present with the $1160 auto-air version. This one has a built in water softener which is important if you live in a hard water area since hard water will prematurely age the dishwasher. There is also an additional safety mechanism that stops water flow when a leak is detected with this version. I think it's a decent tradeoff for $600 less, especially for people that live in a hard water area.
