This 98 inch TCL Q55K is mainly about getting a huge, immersive screen for around $1,000, especially if the alternative is a projector or a much pricier OLED. The size and price look strong for a moderately bright room, and the panel can feel impressive when viewed straight on. The main knocks are weak viewing angles, no local dimming, and sound that really benefits from a separate soundbar and subwoofer. It is a big-screen value play, not an OLED replacement.
The TV's sound can be reasonable when viewing from about 10-15 feet away.
The 98-inch size can deliver strong immersion when the room allows a roughly 7-foot minimum viewing distance.
The TV can work decently in a moderately bright room despite not being an OLED panel.
The price can feel reasonable for a 98-inch screen compared with alternatives like using a projector for that size.
Live sports can show lower image quality, and adjusting display and sound settings may be necessary.
Viewing angles can be weak, and the panel quality can fall short of OLED televisions.
The lack of local dimming can be a dealbreaker for a 98-inch TV.
The 98-inch TCL Q55K can be a worse choice than a Hisense 100-inch U6 option at a higher Costco price with Allstate insurance.

No one wants those tiny things. These types probably pixel peeping and when guests come they invite them to go super close to the screen and show them how the pixel cant be seen and why its better and more expensive per size compared to a 100" lol

...now I need to convince my wife we need to replace the 75" TV for this one. I'll give the 75" to my parents.

Decided to go the forgiveness rather than permission route. Main seating position is 17' from the wall though, so even 98" is technically inadequate. Had $100 gift card I'll never use, so it brought the price to $900.
Gotta figure out how to stuff my current 75" TCL into a small corner at my parents. Wonder if an articulated mount is strong enough?
Wish me luck on the forgiveness. Shouldn't be too bad after she realizes it's way better and I was right all along.
EDIT: Wife got home from her trip to find a box nearly the width of the living room leaning against the couch. She's less angry than I was bracing for.
