I have to agree, I bought this brand twice, once to try and once because I forgot how bad they were the first time.

Totally agree, made the mistake once. Once. Stick to the tuna fish with BB.

The hot sauce ones are probably some of the best of this brand, (hides the bland taste and mushy filets) but that's not saying a lot. I got a box of the mustard ones a few months ago, and I got tired of them by the 4th or 5th can. I agree with other posts, the Wild Planet sardines are superior. They are a bit more, something like $1.50 per can, but I'd much rather have the lightly smoked Wild Planet variant in EVOO.

If you are on an tight budget, these Bumble Bee sprats will do. It's getting hard to find a tin for under $1, so these at ~$0.80 are probably bottom barrel pricing.

I bought these last time around. That hot sauce is HOT! I have taken to washing the sauce out under the faucet before eating.

Better option $13.41 / 10 with S&S coupon : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002TUUEA/
or you can buy smaller quantities since the coupon is actually better that way

I do prefer hot sauce sardines but this is the absolute nadir of taste. I ate my BB 12 pack on principle but never again doing BumbleBee anything (YMMV of course)
Weirdly, Wirecutter has an article on this (https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...-sardines/)

I prefer the Wild Planet myself.
Wirecutter recommends Patagonia
