Go through eBay. Walmart with 3rd party sellers is useless for customer service, even if this is an affiliated company. My 2c.

I have a couple of these white labeled Gateway laptops that Walmart commissioned a few years ago. Mine were the I5 version with 16gb ram. Surprisingly capable, but definitely cost cut with the keyboard, trackpad and dim screen.

Aside from the obvious installation of Linux on a soldered 8gb RAM unit like this, is the option to leave this laptop closed and remote into it. These lower end units have suspect keyboard, touchpad, screen, longevity, etc.; so using a Samsung tv with Remote PC Access that can log into this laptop with XRDP installed, actually adds another psuedo computer with your tv, while not accelerating the demise of the lower quality laptop.

MX Linux 21.3 Miminal is a prime candidate for XRDP application, and is one of the easiest setups to accomplish this.

Be cautious with VIPOutlet. I ordered a NIB laptop and received a visibly marked refurbished unit. No response from their customer service.

VIPOutlet does too much Reseller, sight unseen.

I'm writing this comment on a Gateway laptop I bought two years ago at Microcenter. The PSU, manufactured by Chicony, needed to be replaced due to coils whine. It sounded like a tortured bird. The RMA process was incredibly fast, and I had a new PSU manufactured by FSP Group less than five days later.

These are cheap laptops, but I was impressed with customer service. I even upgraded to 32GB of RAM and it's running great to this day.

Oh, and it had ZERO bloatware on it. I didn't expect much and was impressed.

Good choice if you need a cheap PC. Not powerful, but adequate.

LPDDR is soldered, don't think you can upgrade this laptop sadly.

If you're going to do this I recommend keeping an eye out for a logitech k400 on sale, they've been $10 on woot in recent history
