KEF's "sale" prices are basically their fair market prices, i.e. what other companies normally charge for similar class of products. The only time they go under these "sale" prices is when a model line is being clearanced ahead of a "new" one getting brought to market. I just feel sorry for the folks who actually get suckered into paying KEF's ludicrous "regular" prices, lol.

Fair enough, and to continue to be fair, many other companies do similar things. Sometimes it's even on newly introduced products. I did bite at this and if it's worth 400 that is fine with me.

Don't be, KEFs main customers buy the R3++ to the Blades.

The Q1 metas that go on sale most often serve their purpose, get people into Uni-q and get them interested in higher end models later on. Low profit for KEF and put on sale just to meet the price point of other speakers which are older engineering.

Q1 metas are goos enough for most 60-75% of people.

More for clarity than loud party slammers so you need less volume. Not loud enough for outdoor or large indoor parties/events

A r3 would be ideal for a true large home theater setup but these days who's really gonna have one of those and shop for the lowest end MAT speaker from KEF.

Great deal regardless. Prices will end up near msrp if this is anything like the previous models. Except better bc these are optimized with MAT a evolutionary material in Uni-Q development

I've heard the R3 Meta in person. It's a nice speaker, though for a music-oriented or mixed use setup, I'd still take the Philharmonic over it: https://philharmonicaudio.com/pro...4954554612

For HT-focused setup I find the R series a bit dull, despite how much I love them for 2 channel music especially the classical and jazz I mainly listen to. I'd go with a compression driver tweeter for much better dynamics and "fun factor" --- the only drawback here being aesthetics where KEF wins handily.

You are valid on all points and I like the unique gear mentions, obviously well versed in the art. However to someone who doesn't really know what we're talking about that's like saying oh yeah this KEF sedan is good and can carry a bit of stuff, but there's something called a philharmonic SUV or loudspeaker truck and its definitely better.

Yes but its much larger, unsightly, heavier, doesn't fit well into home decor. For the average person, a boutique speaker is not the way to go, harder to resell down the road etc. Even myself I would not go for such speakers despite agreeing that they have slightly superior sound and there are unique offerings out there.

Well, there is one speaker with a compression driver tweeter that actually scores high on aesthetics, and enjoys equal brand name recognition, which I forgot to mention:

and its smaller brother which has the same 5.25" woofer size as the Q1:
