Bought some sodola 2.5gb 8port (+1 sfp) back in 2023. Still working fine today. These are managed (support vlan and some other features). Pricing was around $70-80

FCC ruling I believe was only for consumer routers (you know the all in one firewall, switch, and AP combo in a box).
Dug deeper. This is their definition of a router. Of course politicians make rulings and laws that are often very open ended and left to interpretation either due to lack of technological understanding or on purpose to control the size of the net dynamically they can cast. One could argue both ways an unmanaged switch falls under this category since technically it does forward IP packets but doesn't really do any routing in a sense the spirit of this ruling was probably based on.
Routers: For the purpose of this determination, the term "Routers" is defined by National Institute of Science and Technology's Internal Report 8425A to include consumer-grade networking devices that are primarily intended for residential use and can be installed by the customer. Routers forward data packets, most commonly Internet Protocol (IP) packets, between networked systems.

I keep hoping to find a deal on an 8 port, 2.5G, PoE switch.
Ali has this for $96
>HORACO 2.5G Web Managed PoE Switch 8 Port 2.5GBASE-T with 10G SFP+
Horaco is same OEM as Hasivo, Sodola and a bunch of other Chinese brands although I didn't see the Sodola equivalent on Amazon
Edit: Sodola clone is $120. There's a cheap Mokerlink unmanaged on Amazon (they're also Hasivo)
