This 12 foot 10 gauge extension cord is only rated for 15A. Maybe because of the connector type. Anyway it is less expensive than similar length 12, 14, 16 gauge so why not go for a larger diameter wire.

Great deal, I just bought two of these.

15a is the limit for a nema 5-15p connector.... So yes, 10ga is great, but has little advantage over 12ga.
