Just a naming scheme seems like. Core is just the latest xbox series s/x controller without rear paddles that doesn't come with the accessories pack.

Not worth if you are playing PC btw. There are so many better controllers for cheaper than this + lower latency wireless. There's only specific use cases where this makes sense.

Any examples? I got one someone recommended and it has horrible stick drift

Not OP, but anything from 8BitDo is going to be a great alternative for PC. Personally, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2, which has been going on sale quite frequently lately, is the best controller yet. The Ultimate 2C is almost the same controller, just without the adjustable trigger stops. If you prefer the symmetrical layout like on Sony consoles, the 8BitDo Pro 3 is awesome.

Honorable mention goes to the Gamesir Super Nova.

In this instance, I believe "Core" is just referring to the basic Xbox controller (normally $65). It is not the "Elite (Core)" version (normally $150), which is the Elite controller without the accessories.

Correct. Great deal for a xbox controller. Yes there are "better" ones but at the same time its almost half off.
