I understand that the PRS neck (wide/thin on many SE models) is not to everyone's taste, and that's a personal matter. However, the SE line is built as nicely as most any guitars I've seen. The fit/finish on my SE Singlecut (non-McCarty/594 model; 2 knobs and a 3-way switch) is top notch, and it's a gorgeous instrument for the $350 I paid it used with an SKB hard shell case.
I hear people say negative things about the pickups, but I find the SE pickups quite good. Good enough that I bought a used pair (pulled for an upgrade) for use in another guitar for under $50.
The main downside of the SE is that they just don't have the cachet of the USA models even though I think they're as nice as the S2 units. The used market is really tough right now, so you'll likely lose money on resale.

Not at all- play whatever makes you happy. If you have the want and the money for it, no reason to blame a skill level to keep yourself from enjoying it. If it inspires you to pick it up and play more, then it's worth everything you throw at it!
I've played this model a store. It was well made with a good action.....very playable. It comes with a gig bag. I have a friend who gigs with an SE. It's his #1. This is a great guitar for the money. If I lost all of my American guitars, I would consider buying one of these and trying to make it work for me.

I have an SE Silvery Sky and a Custom 24 SE as well. both are IMPECCABLY made. the only thing I can complain about is that in Indonesia they're heavier on the moisture rich environment, so they can get fret sprout easier than the core models here in the USA, and the nuts they use on the SE line are kinda "meh". both are SUPER easy fixes when you go in to your luthier to get it setup, and these guitars punch WAY over their price point when compared to the competition.
