These 3.5ah powerstack batteries are the sweet spot for size vs performance. The 5ah is a brick and the 8ah is the size of a cinder block. I haven gotten hands on the 4ah but I'm guessing it's similar to the 5ah footprint, maybe a little lower in height.

I don't have any Powerstacks, but I have an "older" XR and some of the batteries that recently went on sale at Home Depot (4Ah+6Ah bundle for $107). This won't be super useful for anyone looking to compare against these Powerstacks, but I'll include some size/weight comparison pics (the best I can do anyway) for my batteries in case anyone is considering the lower-cost options.

I'm no battery scientist, but it's my understanding that the main differences here are the cell type (18650 for middle vs. 21700 on left & right—hence the difference in length).

3.5 powerstack is smaller then 4ah powerpack. This is my favorite compact battery. The sweet spot for performance, size, runtime on regular tools. Performance is similar with the edge going to this smaller powerstack but honestly you wont notice that performance difference unless it is side by side

I honestly didn't know they made 3.5Ah in any type—I'm assuming incremental Ah ratings are practical now thanks to the pouch cells they're using.
