I have found the 24 packs of these must be processed in a different facility than the 10 packs. The 24 packs have always been difficult to drain and are super mushy. I have had 0 problems with the 10 packs. The cans are stamped differently so that's how I realized the distinction. Just my observation over the past 3 years.

Are canned tuna actually good for you? I'm very confused with it similar to like canned sardines. I thought because it's canned food, it's not good? I know that it is processed and processed food in general isn't good but very confused about canned tuna? Is this the same tuna that you get at subway if you just pour the canned tuna in a bowl and mix it with mayonnaise?

The thing is in general I know fish is good for you like salmon but canned tuna good as well? I am confused because I have seen YouTube videos talking about how canned sardines are good for you but didn't check much on tuna.

The thing is could you eat it every day? What about eating it 2 or 3 times a day each day and only eating that? Then that is not good right? Canned sardines seem like an easy meal as you just open the can and eat from it so you don't have to cook or anything like that. Canned tuna it seems to say you should eat it at most 2 to 3 times a week max? So big difference with canned tuna and sardines?

The thing is what do you have to look for with canned tuna? Is it sardines in vegetable oil or soybean oil or olive oil and avoid everything else? Some seem to be only in water. Is that what you want?

What do you not want canned tuna such as it mixed with?

The 24 pack I've gotten are more flakes than chunks and a totally different product from what you get at the grocery store.

There's nothing wrong with any canned fish purely because it's canned (although fresh is obviously better). The various oils and other things added to it can make it less healthy, but the reason you shouldn't eat too much of some kinds of canned fish is due to mercury. Mercury isn't a result of being canned, rather it accumulates in all fish due to contamination in the ocean. The higher up the food chain, the more mercury in the fish, as they accumulate more mercury from all the smaller fish they eat that also contain mercury.

The rule of thumb is, the larger the fish, the greater the mercury content. So sardines, which are tiny, have low levels and can be eaten safely all you like. Tuna, which is a huge fish, has far more mercury and should only be consumed a couple times a week.

How in the world does tuna become stale?
