Keep in mind the wind rating on this is not that high if you live in hurricane prone areas. You will be better off with a beefier build like a Pergolux or Bon Pergola although the price also increases accordingly.

Don't you need a zoning and construction permit to install these ? Also have a pavers in my backyard. Can this just my anchored to the pavers or you need concrete footings to install it ? I live in northeast

Generally, you don't need a permit if it is not attached to the house. However, every area has different codes. I would suggest you anchor to concrete if possible, especially if strong winds are an issue where you live.

Just a tip for those who have sneaky neighbors, in our old city -- 10x12 was the max before a permit was needed. Since these sit high, and often over your fence, if your neighbor is an A-Hole or d!ckhead that likes to complain to the city, just keep permits and max sizes/sq footages for your city in mind!

I actually checked with my local city permitting office, and they explained that because these things are engineered structures (ie, you can't modify them or the construction process), they do not fall under the permitting process. 😄I literally went to them asking to get a permit and they kicked me out. For reference, Southern California.

Mine specifically said not only do you need zoning permit , you also need construction permit . And asked me specifics on how it will be installed. Now I am worried if I say I will just anchor this to paver they will not agree and ask to do concrete footing

I would think being a mixture of aluminum and steel would make the structure stronger than aluminum alone. The steel is galvanized. Wouldn't that help prevent rust?
