The Adventurer 5M is a fast, CoreXY starter printer that stands out for easy setup, self leveling, and solid print quality right out of the box. It is praised as a no fuss machine with wired and wireless networking, Orca slicer support, and reliable results on everything from simple models to car gauge pods. The main tradeoffs are its open frame design, which limits harder to print materials without an enclosure, and occasional support or firmware headaches. It is a strong single color workhorse if you want speed and simplicity more than multicolor features.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, an enclosure can be added with a cheap AliExpress kit and printed parts, and a camera can also be added. The main feature that cannot be added is the air filter, and an enclosure helps if you want to print more demanding materials.

  • Yes. It is largely the same CoreXY platform as the AD5X but without multi-material capability, so it makes sense if you only need single-color printing. The AD5X is better for automatic filament switching and multicolor, while the 5M is the cheaper, simpler option.

  • It usually includes only a small sample amount of filament, not extra full rolls. The sample is enough for several of the preloaded models at lower infill, but buying at least one PLA spool gives you room to practice and print beyond the demos.

  • Yes. Setup is described as removing a few screws, attaching the display, and letting the printer calibrate itself, then printing default models successfully with no issues. It is also repeatedly described as a strong beginner printer with minimal tinkering.

  • Yes. It works with Orca Slicer, and a random USB webcam can reportedly work right away when plugged into the screen's USB-A port. That makes it easier to monitor prints without buying Flashforge's camera kit.

I'm not [only] worried about that; they've said "Flashforge does not support or condone the 3D printing of firearms or weapon components (subject to the Flashforge user agreement). Flashforge prohibits using our products and services to create firearms and weapon components. Violations may lead to account termination and referral to authorities." That's enough for me to not give them my money. I'm sure the printer is fine, but I'm not supporting a company that has unhinged policies like that.
Again, it's a bunch of BS. FF was threatened by a very political AG. They made statements to placate political types who are overstepping. The unhinged policies aren't coming from FF. If they want to say you can't upload to their online systems, fine. To claim that they are going to block you from printing something or even know what you are printing is spreading misinformation. I would suggest you direct your concerns to those who are the real issue here.

Is this any good for 3D2A purposes?
That would depend on the materials you want to use. Being an open printer it's not ideal for some of the more robust but harder to print materials. With an enclosure it can do a lot more of them.

Parts are usually from FF but some other companies make parts for it as well - like build plates etc. Printer will use most any PLA or PETG or TPU filament. More specialized filaments prob need you to print/buy an enclosure for the printer because they need more of a controlled heat enclosure.

Wait, so can't just thinker with anything? I suppose can be a good thing, if keeps people from printing a 3D gun that fires backward.

Does anyone have other coupons available? Apparently USDEAL15, USAA15, JJY16 are all used to the limit.

Always wondering what makes people recommend this printer over the Kobra 3 Combo, which gets you an "AMS" for just a little more money. Genuine question; anyone have feedback on what the Flashforge does better?

From a Google search:

'The Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo is best for multi-color (4+ colors) printing with a larger 250x250x260mm build volume and built-in filament drying, while the Flashforge Adventurer 5M is superior for raw speed, reliability, and ease of use, particularly in a smaller 220x220x220mm format. The Kobra 3 offers advanced multi-material capabilities, but the Adventurer 5M is often considered more "plug-and-play".'

Adding the lower price from this current deal. The FF makes sense for beginners and those not worried about multi color prints at the moment.

I had this happen to me too. I tried USAA15 and that worked until google pay failed and then it would not work for me. The coupon did apply today though so I am trying again (right now the payment step w/ my credit card instead of google pay has been processing for like 5 mins so I expect it to fail)

I am having similar issues in general. This is my second time trying to order from them in general and their website seems to be filled with an awful lot of farkery....

Edit: I refreshed the page after waiting about 10 mins and the payment completed so I will see what happens. It only looks like a single order on their website and if I get charged twice that should be pretty easy to remediate so taking my chances.
Last month I've placed 3 or 4 separate orders from AliExpress and each time the website gets to processing the order after payment it just hangs but afer a couple of minutes I do get the email that the order was placed and I also get the paypal email that the payment was processed. After I get those emails I kill the hanging page and go back to AliExpress Account/My Orders and see that my order was processed. And I have received my ordered items...

Great deal. I bought this closer to $200 and it was definitely worth it. You can get a kit pretty cheap on AliExpress to build an enclosure (with some 3d printed parts you can get from flash forge). You can also add a camera. Those are two of the main things from the pro version (the only real thing you miss and can't add is the air filter).

Coming from an Ender 3 was night and day. Very minimal tinkering to get some very solid prints at a good speed.

I don't have experience with Bambu or other more expensive printers and I'm sure there's some improvements as you move up to that range, but for the price you can't beat this.
Please post a link to an enclosure kit.
