This Mint bundle pairs the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a year of unlimited service, and the strongest appeal is the total cost versus buying the phone and plan separately. The phone is reported to unlock after 60 days, and activation does not require number porting for the trade in deal. Mint service is described as solid on T Mobile towers across places like Ohio, New England, Pennsylvania, and parts of California, though 5G coverage can be limited and the checkout total can jump with taxes and fees. The main friction is deal eligibility and occasional checkout cancellations, making it feel like a good value if the order goes through.
people switching from T-Mobile to Mint in areas where Mint has worked well for others because a commenter in SW Ohio said Mint (T-Mobile towers) works well and they've used it for a few years and "love it," and another commenter in New England said switching from T-Mobile to Mint didn't feel different.
buyers who plan to do the math on the included 12-month unlimited plan and compare total cost because one commenter calculated the 1-year Mint unlimited plan as $180 plus taxes/fees (not $360) and still called the overall deal great, while another compared total cost and said it came out about $400 cheaper.
new Mint mobile customers who want to use T-Mobile towers and are okay with a phone that's expected to unlock after about 60 days because commenters said chat confirmed the S26 Ultra unlocks after 60 days and that number porting isn't needed for this order/trade-in deal.
people who already have a solid trade-in (e.g., a Pixel 9 Pro XL) and want the price to drop meaningfully because one commenter said Mint offered $400 for their Pixel 9 Pro XL 256GB, bringing the price down to about $662, and they were considering switching due to US Mobile ending.
travelers who might need a faster unlock path because a commenter reported they were able to get an unlock in a day or two after activation by requesting an emergency unlock for traveling abroad.
people who want to avoid surprise add-on costs at checkout because commenters said the extra $90+ taxes/fees added by Mint before checkout feel like a rip-off and that the deal includes tax on full retail plus state/federal fees.
buyers who are comparing against other recent promos and expect this to be the best trade-in value because multiple commenters said similar Amazon deals were $100 cheaper or had a $300 trade-in promo, making this Mint offer less competitive.
people who need a smooth checkout/payment experience because commenters reported order cancellation/refunds and payment-system issues (including one case where the order was cancelled and refunded after no confirmation, and another where payment failed with multiple cards/PayPal until using Apple Pay).
buyers who want to use the phone immediately with a different SIM without waiting because commenters asked whether the phone and included SIM must be activated for 60 days before switching out to another SIM/unlocking, and another commenter reported the phone is locked out of the box and flagged an "unauthorized sim card detected" message with a different SIM.
current Mint customers who are hoping to get the same pricing as new customers because one commenter said they couldn't see the same deal available for current Mint customers in this case.
buyers who are sensitive to 5G performance expectations because commenters said Mint service is fine but 5G coverage isn't strong (mostly 4G LTE), and they wouldn't worry about Mint not working anywhere but also wouldn't expect strong 5G.
Mint runs on T-Mobile towers, and multiple users report solid service across places like SW Ohio, New England, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and parts of New Jersey. One caveat is that coverage can be mostly 4G LTE rather than strong 5G in some areas.
For a new customer, the 1-year unlimited plan is reported as $180 plus taxes and fees. Several comments note that Mint also adds about $90+ in fees at checkout, so the out-the-door total can be much higher than the headline price.
The phone is reported to unlock after 60 days. It can be bought without number porting for this order/trade-in deal, and the device is locked out of the box until that unlock period passes.
The unlock timing is tied to the phone, not whether you activate the included Mint SIM in the new device. The new phone can still unlock after 60 days even if you use the eSIM on your current phone.
The sales staff at the store I got my S26 ultra told me you can have the phone unlocked after 30 days and I just confirmed it now while chatting with a customer service rep on the Spectrum site. This only applies if you pay for the phone in full. Sorry this was supposed to be on the S26 ultra from Spectrum promo not this one!
They can unlock your phone in a day or 2 after activation if you request emergency unlocked for traveling abroad; that was what I did last year on Pixel 10 Pro XL
Will it unlock within 60 days if I take the Mint Sim card and use it on another unlocked device or the Mint Sim has to be used on the S26 for it to unlock in 60 days.

No, Out of the box phone is locked. Tested with Lyca mobile SIM card even before activating mint mobile SIM and a message popped-up saying "unauthorized sim card detected".

Did you expect them to unlock your phone and allow you to take it to a third party when you still owed money on it????
does the phone work on any mint mobile sim card ? or do I have to use the sim card that come with the package ? thanks
The problem which no one has answered is... do you need to have the PHONE and the SIM that comes with the phone activated for 60 days before you can switch out to any SIM... if you want the phone unlocked.
My order was cancelled and refunded. Paid with paypal. never got order confirmation, just a mail saying its being reviwed and mail stating order is refunded after almost 4 hours. Any one able to order successfully?
Were you able to get this ordered, I had my order cancelled and refunded too for no reason. I wonder if they just dont have the color option or maybe cause I was a previous customer over a year ago?

Yes, issue was with mintmobile payment system. I got on to chat with mintmobile and tried with different cards, different emails and paypal but nothing worked. Finally my order went through when I paid with apple pay on my Ipad.

Hmm weird, I willy try with my credit card direct instead of paypal and see what happens...
You think Mint is evading taxes on the macro level?
Every Billion Dollar company uses tax loop holes to evade taxes.
You routed your billion in profits through subsidiaries to the Netherlands and then you route your money back... two wire transfers. And VOILA you don't need to pay any taxes... all you need to do it;
1. Have no employees and have no physical location in the Netherlands... by law you do not have to pay any taxes on your company in the Netherlands if you have no employees and no physical location.
2. Give some random patent that you own, to that company on paper and state that your profits (money sent) were the exact dollar figure of costs that is equal to all the profits that were wired transfer to the Netherlands.
3. And now you wire transfer the money back to the USA and you do not own any money in taxes. PERFECTLY LEGAL.
And that is one way to avoid paying taxes and this is what Tesla and many other companies do to avoid paying any taxes on the BILLIONS/TRILLIONS of dollars of profits so far made.
In the USA, we tax the middle class, never the ultra rich and never the billion dollar companies.

Yes, this specific phone-and-plan offer is reported as not being available to current Mint customers. The deal is framed as a new-customer promotion.

It includes tax on the phone at FULL RETAIL plus state and federal fees. But it is the TAX ON FULL RETAIL that gets me.
They could have said... on sale for xxxx and free for new users but who do you think KEEPS all that tax money.
