Screw the guy coming after you when you need to separate the wires during a troubleshoot. They'll end up cutting your abomination and make your pre-existing wires shorter. Just buy wago(s) at that point and skip the wire nuts.

Seems like a 1/4" shank might be more versatile than this (6mm) one? I'm thinking it might be practical to be able to use with a 6-in-1 screwdriver at times.

Ran into the result of one of these being used when I had to replace a ceiling fan a few years ago... yes, very secure connection, but the next 200 years of that person's family line is cursed, now, because they didn't use a sane method of joining wires.

And if you tape the wire nuts, execution.
Right away.

I second the Wagos, they are so much easier to work with. It is a shame the UK has really nice junction boxes that Wagos snap into whereas in the US it's not approved for use. Wagos still work in regular junction boxes, but the ones built for Wagos are so much nicer.

they're nice, but ironically lever-nuts are the most american thing not used in america. made by someone not born in america, completely unnecessary, and makes things more expensive. I get people complaining when you have to undue a twist, but how often are you taking a connection apart? for realz... pig tails exist for a reason and I can count on 1 hand how many times I thought TIA instead of 'oh this solid connection fits in my box'.

edit, I do think lever-nuts are pretty cool.

Personally I like hand tightening because I can feel the wires grab. If I ever really need it (I don't) I have a plastic doodad that is essentially a manual version of this.

Seems like you could put the boxes in the walls and not need an access plate. In the US and was not aware of those boxes! Using Wagos is already awesome they'd be even better if they let me bury junction boxes

Yeah, thank the underwriting laboratory in the US. We'll all be dead by the time they make progress on something useful. Currently not "code" to use those special Wago boxes, because they didn't pay the US money for the privilege of being certified.
