Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

The salesperson was shocked and called over the store manager, who stated that he had contacted upper management and claimed he would lose his job if he processed a full payment; he insisted that only the 36-month payment plan was permitted.

He didn't tell me I couldn't do any trade in on the line, he told me specifically I could not trade an s26 series for another s26 series phone until I have owned it for two months and had it unlocked. Manager told me that they no longer allowed these kind of trades and I said that it had changed so he said he would let me try. You are the only one who has been successful in trading in an s26 ultra for an s26 ultra. Maybe just luck or a temporary glitch in the system. Hope to hear that more people are able to but it's not looking good and this promotion has a very short time window.
Just an FYI- my first ultra was traded in as s25+ and $461 cash, 20 days ago, on the original promotions. Spectrum updated their promo for s26÷ and Iltra two days ago. So technically my second time ultra trade was under a new promotion. Maybe that was the reason mine went through. The employee helping was also surprised and had to confirm with her colleague who agreed when I mentioned the promo terms mentioned one per line (but I already had that promo 20 days ago on that line).

I plan go go back to the same store in a few days to try trading s26+ for another ultra on any of my 3 existing lines and see if I can get all credits and get some back. If not, I'll try that on a new line. Before doing that, I'll move an existing line to an old unlocked phone, just so not to be asked about another spectrum traded new phone on that line.

I traded Iphonese2 for S26 on first day of the promotion. Today, I went to trade S26 for S26U on the same line but it didn't go through. Then I tried to trade the Samsung A16 for S26U, that one also failed. Finally, I had to add a line and trade A16 for S26U. They were not being ahole, they were nice and tried everything they could but the system was not allowing them.

I m planning to try one more at a different store.

Thats what mine said too, but then doesn't explain why you can do it online.

we need to talk more.

What you experienced is exactly what EVERYONE experiences when trying to trade an S26 for another s26. the $700 promo disappears and theres a message that pops up that says "only one $700 promo per line" But the error even appears on a NEW line as well.

Granted i havent been able to specifically TRY an ULTRA for an ULTRA but a base model s26 has never worked.

Therefore, I need to know what exactly were the circumstances where you SUCCESSFULLY traded an S26 for another S26/+/Ultra. Because its never been done before. Was the s26 purchased on another account, and then attempted to be traded on a new account? Did you trade in the s26 to get another kind of device, THEN get the s26 ultra?

OR perhaps the s26s were no longer showing ON YOUR Account as active devices? Like you swapped out the phones?

Update: Just not chatted with an agent and successfully submitted refund request for the excess trade in credit. Should get it within the next 3-5 business days.

Either way something isnt adding up and id like to get some concrete answers before wasting a 1.5 hour drive.
Fyi- this was all done in the same account (been trading with one or more lines, adding lines when required, since last year). One thing that could probably have helped is that my first Ultra was ordered via the original promo about 20 days ago (s25+ trade and $461 cash), and Spectrum updated the promo two days ago, and it's possible that my second Ultra trade was technically under a new/updated promo. One more thing to note is that before trading any S26, I moved the esim to an old unlocked phone, so my account does not show the newly traded Spectrum phone for that line. The line that had successful second Ultra trade previously was added as BYOD line, then used on new S26 trade from another line, and then that S26 on the same line was traded for iphone 17e. So in a way this particular line received the full $700 credit for the first time when I traded Ultra vs Ultra. But I previously tried in store to trade on this line for another S26 and S26+, but the $700 disappeared at final checkout page. So, I'm really not sure what helped my second Ultra trade.

Also, I am aware of the second time $700 disappearing from final checkout page since the first promo. So, maybe I got lucky or maybe this is possible in some scenarios.

Update: Chatted with an agent just now and successfully submitted refund request for the excess trade in credits. Should get it within the next 3-5 business days.

Just did this promo in store. They only gave $1 for the moto g for some reason but oh well. It was part of my free line and they waived the activation. But taxes and fees were almost $80 in the Carolinas for some reason. Total out of pocket was about 100 including cost of the Moto g. It looks like many people paid less tax but oh well can't really complain about paying 100 for a s26+

Those who are doing TracFone service plan farming, they can buy renewed Samsung A6 with 1500 plan from Amazon. I bought, transfer service to my existing TracFone account, and traded the phone for S26+.
I traded in 5 of my Motorola phones that I have had for awhile. They looked so new and the guy said how do you keep them that new. LOL After we completed my orders I told him and he just laughed. He said yeah these cheap phones are giving you 705. All of them went through just fine. I had a 2021 Moto phone and it was fine.

As I was waiting for him to work on my order I said wow I really like the Ultra and he said well since you signed up for internet today--there is a $400 bonus if you buy the Ultra (not sure if it would of worked on the other phones) So I switched out a 26+ for it. The credit didn't show up because he made the mistake of letting me pay for it. I guess it had to go on a payment plan but he said his boss is going to figure it out and give me credits on the account.

This guy knew exactly what was going to happen with the $700 and $400 on trade in and he said you will walk out only owing the tax and the $20 fee. I asked him if he could get rid of that but he said there is no way.
It was wonderful working with a guy that was on our side and trying to save me $$$ guess he might have looked at those cheap phones and figured if I had been using them--I really needed some help. LOL

Everyone that has been doing Tracfone --look for those old phones and see what they are showing online for trade-in. Mine were used so much that they didn't have a case on them and didn't have a scratch on them. LOL.

I didn't ask him if they would unlock in the 60 days. I hope everyone is correct on that.
This is almost as good as the Verizon deal years and years ago--.It's incredible for the times we are in now.

Damn, my honest mouth. Walked into a store with an appointment and a very nice and friendly employee greeted me, and I started with "hi, I'd like to trade my new s26+ for an Ultra ". Guess what , they are sold out.

Also, asked if old phones with cracked screen is accepted, and the answer was very friendly "no, we do not trade cracked screens, phone was to be in good condition "

Is it confirmed that if we are forced into a 36-month payment plan at the store, we can pay it off in full by contacting customer service once we get home and then have the credits refunded to our card?
