Just wanted to add a data point.

This worked for me today in Texas for an S26+.

I went to Walmart and bought the Moto G 2025 64gb, turned it on and got to the home screen, went to spectrum and traded it in.

Spectrum had to select "Other" for carrier and I got the $400 off plus $705 for the trade in. It seems like taxes were on the price of the phone minus the trade in value, so taxed on $395 at 8.25% taxes were $32.58.

In total I paid $27.57 to Spectrum (1100-400-705=-5 +32.58 tax)

On top of that I paid Walmart $32.35.

So all in was $59.92.

It's instant in the spectrum stores. Online it takes a few weeks.

I think this is one of the cheapest, easiest to purchase phone that qualifies for $705.

I've been watching SlickDeals for over 20 years. This was one of the GOAT deals. RIP.
They can't possibly repeat 700 + 400 next year, can they?
This was an incredible one! Never thought we'd see one this easy again.

Would be nice but at least we have a nice phone for trade in.

There was a better deal years ago with Verizon. They had a trade in and LG had a rebate so we actually made $$$ on each phone we purchased.

Make sure everyone gives this a thumbs up and a rep!

Nicely done! That's too much work for me to save $10 a month. lol
Maybe I explained too much. The process to get a free line again is to port out to US Mobile for free 1s month or any carrier of your choice, then go back to Spectrum to get free line again with a new number or with the port-in of the old number from US Mobile or any carrier of your choice.

Of course Internet service with Spectrum must be continued and can't be cut while getting this free line again. I only waited about 1 day after I initiated the port-out process to US Mobile and I believed the transfer worked instantly. After 1 day, I logged back into my Spectrum account to make sure No line exists in my account, then I proceeded to get the free line again with a new number temporarily. The reason why I got the new number temporarily was because I wanted to be safe since the port-out process happened so quickly and I didn't want to lose that old 20 years number with a lot of contacts.
Oh so you did the port out and in within a day or so. I thought you used up that free month at US Mobile then ported back to Spectrum.

When my internet promo is up I'll have to call and ask to cancel internet, hopefully get that pricing extended for a year, then try what you've done to get another free year for the mobile line as well.

Cross Posting here too - Just a message for people that are not getting updates on their online order: call CS rep and ask them to check with Fraud Prevention Dep. ... sometimes their system craps out and does not send an email with a link to verify identity (this happened to me). I made a call to a few CSs and they DO NOT see these issues on their end, so you have to ask explicitly and they put you on hold and check with them or transfer you over to Fraud Prevention. Make them double check the emails they have on file are correct and spell it out to check. If confirmation email does not come in a day after submitting identity confirmation items, call them back on the number provided in fraud prevention email.

No, I ported out to US Mobile, then after 1 day I came back to my Spectrum account to get a free unlimited line again with a new number. Then after a few days, I contacted Spectrum customer service to port in my old number from US Mobile to replace the new number on that new free unlimited line. I could port out and then port in with the same number when getting a free unlimited line again, but I didn't do that. US Mobile offered new customer 1st month free, but I used it for only a week.

For Internet pricing, they gave me $40 per month for 2 years for 500mbps up/down. Now I know alot of people are getting this speed for only $30 per month for 2 years.

So even online you couldn't trade-in more than 2? I noticed that the last 2 trade-ins online yesterday, I have to submit my driver's license in order to pass; otherwise my two orders would be cancelled.
I completed one S26+ purchase offline, but when they checked my history and saw that I had bought S25s last year, it seemed like they didn't want to process it for me anymore and said they were out of stock—so I ended up ordering online.
Last Saturday, I ordered two phones online. One went through successfully, but the other was canceled due to credit concerns. Yesterday (the 21st), I placed one last order. They asked for ID verification, so I uploaded my driver's license, but it's now been over 24 hours with no update.
Based on past experience, problematic orders usually get canceled after about two days, so I'm expecting to receive another "canceled due to credit concerns" email tomorrow.
At this point, I'm thinking I might just cancel my Spectrum account and open a new internet account under P2's Spectrum account to prepare for the S27 next year. 😂

I had a few questions so I spoke with chat today and had them check on when I could put another sim in the phone. I wanted the unlock date---they said it was June 15 and the new billing starts on the 16th. What would be the best way to get this line shut down or would I be better off just keeping it for another month. I have 4 phones so obviously I eventually need to get 3 of them that are costing me the $20 off but don't want to be flagged.

My second year free line is expiring in 2 months. I'll try your tactics and see if that works for me.

FYI - if it's just internet pricing you are worried about - I had a promo email to upgrade my 500mbps internet to a Gif for FREE. So, I called and somehow got transferred to retention (as others were not able to see the promo on my line). So, retention upgraded the internet for the same price ($41) which actually renewed my internet for another year. I asked to extend the free line for a year as well, but was told to call just when the free line promo expires. In the meantime, I also asked to add a $20 line and waive the activation. He was super happy to do that. He waived the activation fees, and reserved a really cool new phone number with "4444" in it.

I only discovered Spectrum's Samsung deals last year; before that, I stuck to refurb units or standard sales. Thanks to Slickdeals, I grabbed several S25 and S25+ phones last year, which set me up perfectly for this year's trades. Even with California's high sales tax on the full MSRP, the updated promos made this year's deals unbeatable. I completed 7 in-store trades across my 3 lines using an S25, two S25+ models, and a few Moto Stylus phones. My current lineup includes an iPhone 17e, three S26 Ultras, and two S26+ models.

The highlight was trading an S25+ for my first Ultra, then 're-trading' that Ultra once the promo updated to net a $260 refund. Between the Cricket iPhone 16e/13 promos (which netted me about $1100 Apple gift cards) and these Spectrum deals, this has definitely been my best year for phone upgrades.

Did this phone sell very poorly or something? The phone is only a month old and they're giving it away. Crazy.

I just bought one for my son. Spectrum is also offering an added line for free for the first 12 months. Nice bonus there!
Yeah I have a feeling they didn't sell as well as they thought it would with the first promotion. Instead of having people trade in brand new s26 they just went ahead and gave people the $400 discount.

The cricket 16e are still only 79.99 - still worth it?

Some people got 2 years of free unlimited line. After I got another year free, I called retention department to ask for an additional year and they said I didn't qualify for 2 years. I think when the free line expires, I may just call retention department to ask for another year free and if they refuse, then I do port-out & port-in process.
