Yes, you can suspend the line for up to 90 days or remove it from your account completely. If it is removed from your account completely, you have up to 30 days to recover your account without any fee. I have done this before. I didn't port them out. By the way be ready to deal with some agents who will encourage you not removing completely from your account.
Thanks. figured they would not do it easily. I suspended my line today. Will unlock on the 18th. Do you think I should ask the same rep that unlocks to remove the line or call back after unlock?

Call back after unlock. Yesterday I had to go through 4 reps in order to remove my new lines completely. Don't interface with the online rep because they can't remove the line online

Geez you had to do it by phone and did they transfer you to 4 different reps or did you have to make 4 different calls? Did you do all the lines at one time or 1 at a time.

That's what I figured. I have an irrefutable argument. The person that was using the phone has left the planet. That's why I suspended it and now they are gone. Even asked when I was suspending it if that was an option. So sad. Having taken care of getting relatives off of mailing lists that would never stop, this works every time. Easier for me as I only have one line to remove from the account.

I called 3 times and 1 time through chat. For the 1st call, the rep warned me this and that and promised me to remove 3 lines; but ended up only removed 2 lines and still left 1 line in my account and she didn't let me know. For the 2nd call, he said that I have to answer him several general questions before he could help me, then I wasted 15 minutes with him for all the stupid advertisement questions, then I hung him up. The final call the rep completed my request to remove the last suspended line and I had to go through some warnings of this and that from her. For the online rep, I requested to remove the last suspended line, but she reactivated it because I received an email of line reactivation immediately. Oh man it was crazy and I am glad all three suspended lines were removed from my account.

Can you port out a suspended phone line? Might be the easiest way but then again--it;s a headache setting up the other accounts to port it out to. Hmm tracfone might not be too hard to port to. But there would be a cost--just not sure how much---but if you can't port out a suspended phone line--then you would have to pay the $20 to activate it.
I think my original phone would unlock today and then I have 1 tomorrow and then 2 the next day. Totally dreading it.

If you can get the port out pin, then you can port out the suspended line. Getting port out pin is from online too. There is no fee to reactivate the suspended line. If you decide to remove the line completely from your account, just call them and ignore what they say, just pressure them to remove the line and they will do it.

I just unlocked another one successfully. This one was from the new line and the new line was already suspended and removed from my account. This phone was denied 3 or 4 times already and now it is unlocked successfully.

no fee to reactivate it but a $20 per month charge--not sure how you could activate it without being charged the $20 fee. Awesome that you got another one unlocked. Maybe try unlocking 2 or more through the same chat? Maybe they are just getting too many chats and just letting it all go.

Did you call in or chat online? Also, did you put the free-line SIM card into the phone that you want to unlock? I put my free-line SIM into another phone, and they told me it restarted the 60-day countdown. Now, the system says it failed to unlock.

I chat online and unlocked 3 phones from the new lines already. I didn't put the free line sim card in any of them. I am very sure that these three phones were not 60 days active at all. All my new lines were suspended and removed from my account.

My first S26+ became eligible for unlock today. I chatted with them and in a few minutes they had it unlocked. Next one is in a week. Definitely happy with this deal!

Successfully had 2 unlocked in one chat. First one was on Free line and 2nd was on a suspended line. Super easy. The other 2 should be ready tomorrow to unlock which both are on suspended lines.

Did you unlock them before removing the lines? What was the reason those two failed?
