Here's The Verge announcement of it.
https://www.theverge.com/games/90...rice-specs

Dell's spec list says it has a built-in microphone, but my guess is that's wrong as there is no USB on it.

This is MSRP, but the price is lower than anything else we've seen on a new 1440p 240Hz QD-OLED monitor so I wanted to share for awareness.

You may be able to earn $25 in dell rewards to use on this.

and maybe a bonus $5 here.

Yup. Most QD-OLED's are ~250 nits so don't recommend for a bright room.

27" Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD - 250 nits
27" Acer Predator X27U - 250 nits
27" AOC Q27G41ZDF - 200 nits
27" MSI MAG 272QP - 300 nits

This doesn't list Nvidia Gsync but will that work? It only lists AMD Freesync.

Engadget review
https://www.engadget.com/gaming/p...08263.html
"The AW2726DM features a QD-OLED panel supplied by Samsung that comes with a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440) and up to a 240Hz refresh rate. Alienware supports VRR via AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA AdaptiveSync, though sadly there's no native option for NVIDIA G-Sync. That means if you have a GPU from Team Green and want to take full advantage of the monitor's potential, you'll want to rely on that DisplayPort for optimal compatibility."

My guess is that it may unofficially be "g-sync compatible" but I'm not sure.

Native G-sync with module has less benefits over AdaptiveSync nowadays especially with OLED monitors. Like variable overdrive was big benefit of G-sync modules, but OLED pixels switch state so quickly compared to LCD that variable overdrive is unnecessary. Plus other general advancements in VRR.

G-Sync supports VVR over VESA AdaptiveSync, so you have compatibility.

is the low 200 nit brightness less consequential because it's OLED? or is it still bad?

200 is low yes. If you're playing somewhere dark, it should be generally good enough though.

Do your research on Alienware monitors before purchasing this. I was considering one before but found out that lots of people were having their monitor die on them in very little time through no fault of their own, and Alienware support was difficult to deal with and would send replacements that would also break.

You pay for what you get most of the time.

If you're looking for an OLED on a budget I recommend going used or getting LG's new 240 hz glossy OLED. It's affordable and at Costco, Amazon, and probably other stores as well. It's also WOLED vs QD OLED which in my opinion is the better version. Blacks are black vs magenta.

The panel is Samsung; Dell doesn't make OLED screens
