No. $400 off the top. S26 Ultra is $899 already (not $1299). Get a cheap prepaid phone (I have a Galaxy A03s), they'll give me $5 + $700 promo credit = $705. My total will end up being $194 + tax. Pay in full. There's no way I would give up my S25 Ultra in this case. It's worth more selling on the private market.
I did this a month ago and got an S26 the same way. I'll do the S26 Ultra tomorrow on the same line.
I do in-store, though. Sales tax is applied differently (since your trade-in is evaluated and applied right away) as opposed to doing it online and waiting for the promo credit to hit.

No. Pay the cost of the phone at checkout, send in your trade-in and you'll get the FULL value applied to your account. You can call/chat and have that credit applied as a refund to your credit card.
If you're paying in full, there is nothing involving "3 years" at all. It's paid.

Yes! And it's MUCH better. At least in TX and many other states, you make out a lot better because you only pay sales tax on the amount AFTER your trade-in is applied.
If you do it online, you pay the FULL sales tax of the device and the credit is applied later, no sales tax refunded.
I will literally save something like $95 doing it in-store rather than online.

I got the "We've Received Your Device" email from Spectrum yesterday, May 4th. That email said "Good news! We've received your device and inspected it. You'll be receiving a Trade-In Credit of $61.00 for your device. In addition to your Trade-In amount, you also qualify for the Trade-In Promotion, which brings your total to $761.00."

I logged in to My Spectrum account yesterday and had no credit yet. This morning, I logged in again and the full amount for the trade-in + promotional has applied to my mobile account. I called Spectrum and in about 5 minutes the agent processed my request for refund to my cc. Smooth process.
When did you send in your trade-in device? Did the status on the spectrumtradein website have updates before you received the above mentioned email? I sent my trade-in device by UPS, and the UPS tracking shows delivered on 27 April, but the status on spectrumtradein website is still stuck on "Awaiting Shipment". 7 business days and counting (if I don't count Sat/Sun).

Status never updated for me. I just received an email around 10 days after UPS showed delivered stating that the device was received and trade in was approved.

To those trying to get a refund on taxes, GOOD LUCK lol.... I was able to get all 3 lines tax credit returned for trade ins BUT it took A LOT of persistence to find 2 persons that were willing to listen and understand. I went thought multiple individuals and supervisors who did not give AF
Things to note about changes from previous years:
1) They cannot process a credit refund directly anymore, must create a ticket for another to process it
2) You cannot change the method of refund. Prior years you could change the credit card attached on account and they would just refund to that card... Now it will just credit back on the card you bought the new phone on
Still not clear clarification on. Have they changed the tax credit process from previous years? Almost every person stated that spectrum has NEVER gave tax credit on trade ins and i know for fact that is a lie but I found 1 person today said when credit comes back over to spectrum, it should show tax credit included (which was the old way)
Its a shame for those that cannot do a trade in in-store because you wouldn't pay really any taxes or non at all depending on trade in...

No, status never updated. I sent my trade-in a week or so before I got that email.

Disregard their tradein website. It's usually not updated.

For me, UPS delivered on April 23rd, got accepted email on May 4th.

UPDATE:
Shocking! But not unexpected as some have reported Assurant messing up the trade-in.
I received the dreaded "Action required for your adjusted Spectrum Mobile Anytime Upgrade offer" email yesterday. It said "We've assessed it and adjusted your offer due to:
  • Serial Number Mismatch"
When I click through to their tradein website - they stated the Adjusted Trade-In Amount - which happens to be the same as the stated "Initial Estimate".
Looking for the Serial Number Mismatch - they're referring to the IMEI here, I noticed that I had a 3 in the IMEI info I had entered and they claim it should be an 8. I thought - Damn, Silly me! But I checked the IMEI against the screenshots I had taken before sending the trade-in phone, and............I was CORRECT! It should indeed be a 3. The Ass-urant Inspector had read it wrong. 🙄 Not much Quality Assurance at Assurant. Smh.

I phoned Spectrum this morning, first to confirm that the adjusted trade-in value (same as the initial estimate) will not mean that I relinquish the promo $700. The rep confirmed that I will get the promo value as well. Then, second - I made sure that they make a note that the IMEI detail I had sent is in fact correct.

Now the wait for the correct trade-in amount to be credited to my account.
