This deal for the Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 is a massive price drop for one of the most powerful gaming monitors on the market. Since you found an Open-Box unit in Good condition at your local Eagan store, this post focuses on the significant savings over the $2,499.99 MSRP.

Best Buy has the Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 (LS57CG952NNXZA) available in Open-Box condition starting as low as $858.99 (Condition: Good).
This is a YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) deal as inventory depends on your local store's stock. For reference, I spotted this price at the Eagan, MN location.

Key Specs:
Resolution: 7680 x 2160 (Dual 4K UHD)
Refresh Rate: 240Hz
Panel: Quantum Mini-LED with 2,392 local dimming zones
Peak Brightness: 1,000 nits (HDR 1000)
Curve: 1000R
Price Comparison:
Samsung New: $1,599.99
Amazon New: $1,500.00
This Deal: $858.99 (Save ~$741 over new sale price)
Notes on Condition: "Good" condition units at Best Buy typically include the monitor and essential power cables, though they may arrive in a brown box rather than original packaging. Always inspect the panel for dead pixels or scratches before leaving the store!

This will be very YMMV, but imo this is the way to buy this monitor if you can find one!

Just note that it comes in a box the size of a refrigerator! Not really, but you get my point. I got one in my Camry, but to do so, it was sitting across the back seat door armrests with the windows open. If the box was half an inch longer, it couldn't have fit. It was way too tall to lay the back seats down and go through the trunk. It was fun trying to open the back doors when I got home because the box prevented the door locks from unlocking 😆

Definitely take an SUV or truck to pick it up. Your "my car has a very large trunk" won't cut it. And likely, your back seat won't either.

It says not available. I assume you bought the one at the Eagan store?

If I had the GPU to drive this beyond standard desktop use, I'd go for it. There's one showing in West Lebanon, NH for Open Box (Great)

The used/return pricing ebbs and flows. I got mine for $750 and it was opened but effectively new. Seemed they opened it but never set it up or mounted it. Probably realized how big it was and changed their mind.

I use this monitor daily as a software engineer with insomnia - so I regularly set at it for 12hr blocks and have clocked a lot of use since Dec.

It's been my favorite monitor to date, including OLED and IPS screens I have. I LOVE THE REAL ESTATE - SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!

I have 2 laptops connected to it - 1 Legion with RTX 3080 (8GB) and 1 Legion with RTX 5090 (24GB). Neither has any issue driving it. I've only gamed via the 5090, so can't speak to how a lesser card would handle gaming - but currently my work laptop (3080) is hanging around 6GB/8GB just to push Chrome and other apps using hardware acceleration (without which, you wouldn't want to look at anything other than static apps - e.g. no video as it's really choppy).

I will give a warning, as it drives me nuts when I encounter it a lot when considering the price I paid for this thing - there's a known bug that Samsung just ignores where you will randomly get white lines and glitchy boxes popping up all over the screen... Some folks return for repair/exchange, sometimes multiple times, but they always report it being on each unit... It's difficult to describe, but it's like it's "on top of the video signal" - you can't screenshot it, you have to use a camera to capture it. Getting them to go away is simple enough - you either power cycle, or change the input... But it makes me want to scream when it starts in the middle of being in the zone, especially in the rare case it takes me more than 1 toggle to get it to settle back down. I've yet to figure out the rhyme or reason, nor has anyone else I've found reporting this - sometimes I go days without experiencing it, and sometimes it's a few times a day, but doesn't seem to correlate to how much I'm using it or what I'm using it for...

Yup, this is true. I easily fit the 49" version with the box in my Model 3 with the seats down but this guy is one thick boy. She wouldn't fit through the opening.

Had to take it out of the box in the parking lot and break the top styrofoam to get it to still barely fit. Was a sketchy ride the whole way home lol. As you said, PLAN ACCORDINGLY!!!

I have 2, got one close to this price in Jan 2025, the other for $1000 in Sep 2024. I would buy another one if I had room or a need for it. Its been a great monitor.

If you want to run 8k at 240hz, yeah. But I run a 9060 XT and can play Crimson Desert at 1440 120hz in cinematic and still pull 60fps as long as i ditch the particle effects. Even at lower rez and refresh rates the monitor is gorgeous.

Would a 7900 XT w/ 24gb memory be sufficient driver for this for gaming?

Just set your game settings accordingly, and sure. Bump down the resolution or quality. You don't really need 8k gaming at max settings.
