About this exact item many months ago and it just was not strong enough but it was big and bulky

I had a goose neck one at one point that I had bought hoping I could watch videos while bottle feeding my infant. Unless you have some specific use case, it's easy to overestimate the utility of these stands. A magsafe stand on a desk works way better.

Carbon steel seems a touch overkill...unless you're using a cellphone from 1987, in which case it's absolutely warranted.

I was able to use the ball socket and magsafe innie from mechanism. It will run you $18 though.

I had one of the gooseneck clamps that I used upside-down to hold my phone on a magsafe charger and it worked, but it wasn't very stable, but I think this one would be... so I am on the edge of a purchase.
