This gooseneck phone holder is best for bedside use and other hands free setups where a flexible arm matters. The mount is described as very stable in normal use, and it can even be adapted with a MagSafe charger or ball socket add on for magnetic charging. It also folds small enough to fit in a bag, though setup is awkward and the arm can feel big and bulky. For heavier duty needs or frequent bumps, sturdier mounts like RAM X or SeaSucker are the better fit.

  • bedside use for people who want to watch or play in bed without straining their neck, because the gooseneck/arm setup was described as great for bedside use and even used to lay flat in bed for Steam Link gaming with wired headphones and a spare controller.

  • people who need a stable desk-mounted phone setup for everyday viewing, because commenters said the holder is "super stable" and "stable."

  • injured or disabled people who need to lay a device flat over the bed, because the company's tablet version was specifically called out as working well for people who have to lay flat (with the promo code in this deal only applying to the phone version).

  • buyers who want to use MagSafe accessories with a ball-socket/innie setup, because one commenter was able to use a ball-socket and MagSafe "innie" mechanism with it (noting it costs extra).

  • parents trying to watch videos while bottle feeding, because one commenter said a gooseneck stand was easy to overestimate for that scenario and that a desk MagSafe stand worked better.

  • people who need a very strong mount for heavier or more demanding setups, because for this exact item a commenter said it "just was not strong enough" and that it was also big and bulky.

  • anyone who will knock the arm around in bed, because a similar gooseneck/arm holder was reported to work until it was accidentally knocked and then it fell on the person.

  • buyers who want a quick daily setup or a compact grab-and-go solution, because folded up it fits in a bag but "not cleanly," and was described as a hassle to set up daily instead of buying multiple.

  • people who want heavier-duty mounting alternatives, because commenters recommended RAM X mounts or a SeaSucker for more heavy-duty needs instead of this type of gooseneck holder.

All steel is made with carbon. As Wikipedia says, "Steel is made from iron and carbon".

How portable is this if I want to bring it with me to the office everyday? Does it come with a carrying case? Does it fit into a regular backpack easily?

They're small enough to fit in a bag folded up (though not cleanly). Probably a pain to keep setting it up instead of just buying two.

I stuck a magsafe charger onto the end of one of these instead of the clamp phone mount, it's worked quite well.

You can get one of the vehicle magsafe mount chargers from Lisen or other brands with a ball socket mount for around $10-15 and stick it on the end of this, ex: https://www.amazon.com/LISEN-Char...B0FJ8WS4VC

Carbon steel seems a touch overkill...unless you're using a cellphone from 1987, in which case it's absolutely warranted.
It's "Aviation Grade" just like airplanes!

I would buy this if it supports a full iPad.

It would be so cool lying flat on my bed, binge watching TV on my iPad... until it hits you in the face.
This same company makes one for tablets. They are great for injured or disabled people who have to lay flat. I have two that hang over my bed, one with my Surface Pro and the other with my Kindle. Unfortunately the promo code from this deal only works with the one just for phones though.

I had a goose neck one at one point that I had bought hoping I could watch videos while bottle feeding my infant. Unless you have some specific use case, it's easy to overestimate the utility of these stands. A magsafe stand on a desk works way better.
This is way more stable than goose necks and it works when you're laying in bed. I have phone stands when I'm sitting up too, different use case

Late to the party... code didn't work, but the link to the "promo code page to activate" still works and will apply the discount.
