Probably, and you want that for the best and most reliable signal. I have the c930e, which is the step up... had it forever. Solid, high quality unit.

How's this compare to whatever cheap webcam I can find at Walmart?

Confirmed, this is my everyday webcam for work. Great quality webcam, but does not have Windows Hello capability, unfortunately...which would be really nice.

Doesn't support Windows Hello if anyone was wondering. I scored a v-u0040 4k Logitech webcam at a goodwill store for $15. It is unbelievable. I recorded a video with it and it is some of the best quality I have seen from a consumer level device without a giant lens. Makes my built in cam look like it's 360p LOL. Audio is also stellar. This is a $170 webcam so of course it should be amazing. If you're looking for a higher end webcam I highly recommend snagging one of these used from the usual place, can be had for close to the price of the one from woot today.

This now falls into the budget category, as most webcams are offering more features that add value. For example, 2K or 4K resolution is becoming common compared to the 1K resolution of the C920e. Most video conferencing platforms like Teams or Zoom support 1K, and while 4K has been around for a while, there's not much need for higher than 1K if it's mainly for conferencing. At this price point it competes with the anker C200 which has sharper image potential: the C200 records at 1440p/30fps, while the C920e tops out at 1080p/30fps.

Since quality webcams that also support Windows Hello are still hard to find, I recommend getting a $25 TEC usb fingerprint reader. It's just as fast, and you can keep your high quality optics without making compromises.

Yeah, Hello cams need IR camera ability. I think you need the Logi Brio 4K for that.
